Chapter 14

Year 1092

Mirabel’s POV

“Mama, Mama! Look at what I did!” I yell running to my mother. She turns around and smiles. I run into her open arms and she lifts me into the air. “What do you have there, baby?” she asks trying to see what I have in my hands.

I open my hands to show her a little bird. “Sweet heart, what did you do to the birdy?” she asks looking worried. I smile and look down at the birdy once more before I look at my mother “I made it go alive again! Kurt killed it and I saved it!” I say enthusiastically.

Mommy smiles and strokes the birdy’s head “That was a lovely thing to do, my love. Now you should set it free. But first, let’s teach it a song. This is a mockingbird, my sweet. And it will carry your song billions of miles from here” Momma says.

She starts humming the song “Hanging tree” she got taught as a child from the witches of the east, before she met my father… The King of Alpha’s. When she met him it was love at first sight, I wish that when I find my mate it would be love at first sight…

I listen to my mother while she hums the song before she starts to sing it. The birdy starts to copy her singing. She looks at me while humming and nods her head, signalling for me to let the birdy fly away. I lift my hands high up in the sky, nudging the birdy to fly and it sets off into the sky singing the song mommy had taught it.

I look into my mother’s very light blue eyes and touch her face “Momma, why don’t I have pretty blue eyes like you and Keith?” I ask her and she smiles brighter “Because my love, you have your father’s eyes,” she says with pride written all over her voice and face.

She puts me down and Keith comes up to me. “Mother, I’ll take care of Mirabel for you. You need you rest,” Keith says with a smile. “I’m 4. I can take care of myself!” I tell him and put my hands over my chest with a pout placed upon my lips.

Keith ruffles up my hair before picking me up, flexing his tiny Alpha muscles. Keith is & years older than me, which makes him 11 now and he already has muscles that make him look like a tiny god.

Keith lifts me u and puts me on his back, making me giggle. “Keith, I have legs!” I giggle out loud. Keith chuckles “But your legs are so tiny!” He says and puts me on the ground when momma runs up to us. “Wait Keith, we are having our portrait painted and you must be there, with Mirabel,” she looks at me and bends down to my level “Here my sweet, a necklace for you to wear and for you to keep,” she takes off her beautiful blue necklace and gives it to me.

“It is a moonstone necklace. I have another one. I want us girls to wear it in the painting. They are painting it on a flat rocklike object and their going to paint it with some strange paint. A witch said that she would make the paint permanent and that it would never fade from the rock,” she said smiling. That means that our painting will go down in history…

Mother had combed my hair and is wearing her other moonstone necklace, this one is white though and mine is blue. She smiles at me and takes my hand leading us to the forest where a man stands with a giant strange flat rock in front of him. The rock is flat enough to carry around, but not flat enough to brake. And with the luck of the witch, she might make the rock indestructible.

Father is standing in front of a large stump from a chopped off tree and smiles at us approaching. I am afraid of father. He looks scary and might hurt me. They say he’s very strong and could kill a man with one blow. I didn’t even know you could kill a person just by blowing at them.

Mother goes to sit in front of father on his left side and she puts me next to her right in front of him. She takes Kurt and moves him to sit next to me- he’s 6- Keith is standing in front of my father on his right, right behind Kurt and me. Only the alpha’s stand in portraits.
