Maryln Redfeather watched them walk in. The red-headed girl (Clary?) and the new shadowhunter were already standing in front of Maryln and her dad.
The girl was dressed in all black and looked dangerously posed. Maryln thought that she must be nervous, the way her eyes calculated everything. She tried to remember the girls name...Isabelle. That was it. Maryln had one been five when Sebastian had died, she was fifteen now.
The boy and the warlock walked in. She remembered their names. That was Magnus Bane, the High Warlock of Brooklyn. And that was his boyfriend, Alec. Marlyn had heard her dad complain very often about their relationship.
When the Inquisitor saw Alec and Magnus holding hands, he frowned at them. Maryln resisted the urge to smile at Alec and Magnus. She had always thought they were admirable, standing up for what they believe is okay and being themselves when they could face rejection. So Maryln frowned like her dad, even though it hurt her to do so.
The Inquisitor eyes the five of them, Clary, Isabelle, Alec, Magnus, and...Simon? I think that's it, thought Maryln. The Inquisitor cleared his throat and said in the most assertive voice he could, "I will take each of you into questioning about the events that happened yesterday."
"I will come along," Maryln said nervously with a gulp. She didn't like this, she was going to have to watch her dad most likely wrongly accuse these shadowhunters of something they didn't do. Or he might not believe anything they said, Maryln had a feeling he wouldn't listen to Alec or Magnus just because of their sexuality. She clenched her hand in her pocket at that thought. Maryln loved her dad, she really did, but he could be annoyingly homophobic at times.
"Mayln will come along for the educational experience," her dad explained. Yeah, sure, educational experience. All I'm going to learn is how to not listen to people and hate gays, both of which I'm never going to use in my life. Maryln thought, disgusted.
The Inquisitor looked at Simon, "You first," he said.
Simon gulped and with a shaky breath he said, "Okay," Maryln noticed his parabatai, Clary, lean over and say something encouraging to him. Next to him Isabelle squeezed his hand before he followed Maryln and her dad down the hall and into a room.
"Please sit down," the Inquisitor gestured to the chair in front of the two chairs where he and Maryln would sit. Simon sat down across from Maryln and her dad, he looked really nervous. Maryln gave him a smile, as if trying to say it was going to be alright. Her dad couldn't interrogate him to much with her here.
"So, Simon, what happened yesterday?"
"Well, Clary got a call from Jace that said they had found where Alec was-"
"Alec was missing, for how long?" Maryln wondered why her dad had asked this, he already knew.
"For a while, uh, maybe a week or two? I was sure Maryse had told the Clave..." She had, Maryln knew, her dad was just being annoying. Simon continued, "So, Clary called me and said they had found Alec. Magnus had gotten this note from these two kids, they said they were Sebastain's kids-"
"What did this note say?" The Inquisitor asked.
Simon tried to shrug nonchalantly, but he was too nervous to succeed. "I don't know. Izzy and Jace know, and Magnus obviously."
"So you went along with it even without reading the note?"
"Dad," Maryln said. "Let him tell his story," the Inquisitor glared at her whilst Simon threw her a thankful glance.
"Do not interrupt, Maryln."
Maryln rolled her eyes but did not reply. She turned her attention back to Simon, who was answering her dad's question. "Well, we hadn't had any idea where Alec was so I figured we should go. And the note was true anyway...plus Magnus wouldn't have sent for us if he hadn't found anything..."
"That's enough Simon," the Inquisitor stopped him.
"But, I'm not done..."
"I said that's enough."
Maryln watched as Simon stood up with a confused look on his face, did a slight bow thing, and walked out. Why had her dad not gotten the whole story? He definitely would need it.

Clary's "interrogation" was fairly uneventful. Her story was basically the same as Simon's. She had known Alec was missing, she got a call for Jace saying they had found where Alec was, she got Simon, her mom, this dude named Luke, and came to the Institute. They had waited until Magnus said he had found Alec, by setting off some virtual alarm Izzy had set up. Maryln didn't quite get that part...something with red boots....
Maryln's dad had cut off Clary once she got to the part where they actually got there. He didn't ask her about Kara or Benjermin, who were evidently Sebastian's children. Maryln thought that was the most important piece of information, if evil had come back shouldn't they know about it.
"That's all I need to know, Clary," the Inquisitor said, drawing Maryln out of her thoughts.
Clary looked confused. "Don't you want to know about Kara? And Ben?" She asked. "Or what happened why we were there?" She asked.
"Yeah," I said before I could stop myself.
The Inquisitor's face hardened as he turned to face his daughter. "I thought I told you not to speak," he said.
"But then how am I supposed to learn anything?" Maryln challenged.
"You watch," he told her sternly, then turned back to Clary. His face softened in a fake caring way, as he spoke to her. "I will not need any of those things," he told her.
Clary stood up. "You will wish you asked for them when Kara and Ben come back," she said, storming out the door. Her fiery attitude matches her fiery hair, Maryln thought.

The next chapter will be Jace and Izzy's interrogation. Hope you enjoyed this one.
What do you think of Maryln now?
Izzy's should be pretty interesting. Hope you liked, thank you. :)
