GLIDING my hand down the rugged crystal, i stare at her sleeping state. Feeling anguish and betrayal. I come to see her when all is lost. Which is frequent.
I see her soft blonde hair i ran my fingers through countless times. Her beautiful nose and lips i use to place tender kisses upon. The smile that gleamed when we were alone. I feel the sad nostalgic feeling arise thinking of our intimate moments.
I let my hand fall from the crystal, feeling utter defeat. I press my forehead against the crystal. I envy her state. Her peaceful expression that stays day in and night out. Her ignorance to the unfortunate situation that took place.
I press my hand against the crystal once more, sliding down onto my knees. My vision clouds as my lash line brims with salty tears.
"I— I want you to hear this Annie," I pause and stare into her closed eyes. "Hear me say, how desperately i miss you and—." My voice cracks. I feel guilt course through my veins at the memory of her titan form running rampant and killing our comrades. i know who she is and what she is capable of. Yet i still love her more than words can describe.
The moments she shared with me during scout training will be my only escape from the cruel world. Her moments might of been a facade, yet i can help but hold onto the moments i felt most human.
I clear my throat and mind,
"Sasha died, Annie." I speak with a croaky voice, hoping she hears my cry and comes to my comfort, but nonetheless, my only wish is smushed before my eyes. Her eyes stay glued shut, not budging an inch.
I stare for a couple seconds, until i slowly shake my head and look downward at the dirty pavement. I let out a breathless laugh, remembering the stubbornness she held. Wondering if this is that.
I turn and face the opposite direction of Annie. I tuck my knees to my chest, allowing the tears to finally spill down my flushed cheek.
My stomach felt like an abyss, that grew each second. The loneliness cling to every open pore. My eye burned from tears spilling endlessly. I only wish for her to be in my arms once more.
