THOR WAS LATE AS USUAL. The Asgardians knew that arrogance was a significant characteristic of the soon-to-be king. Most didn't have an issue with it. After all, not only was he the son of Odin but the God of Thunder. Powerful as ever and great in battle.
In a way, Thor had every right to be arrogant. Many were so enthralled with the handsome god that they failed to see his arrogance for what it was - a flaw.
Unlike them, Odin was not at all impressed by his son's tardiness to his own coronation.
Odin sat mighty and proud on his throne, his ceremonial armor glistening and his intimidating spear, Gungnir in hand.
The Queen Frigga stood adjacent to her husband with their youngest son Loki at her side, both dressed for the occasion.
A few feet from them stood, Asgardian warrior Sif and daughter of Heimdall, Kajsa.
On the opposite side of the throne were the Warrior's Three: Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg.
The citizens of Asgard filled the vast throne room, everyone waiting patiently for Thor to make his appearance. Armed Knights stood straight with their spears in hand, making an aisle for the soon-to-be-king.
As minutes went by, the disappointment on Odin's face became more apparent.
All while Loki wore a look of annoyance, not at all surprised by his brother's desire to make a grand entrance.
Feeling someone's gaze on him, the god of mischief, locked eyes with his sweetheart, Kajsa. She smiled, attempting to lift his spirits. It was no secret to her or anyone really that Loki wanted to be king.
Many said that he was jealous of Thor, but Kajsa didn't quite agree. At least not entirely. She grew up with the boys, has always been close to Loki, and found him to be misunderstood.
Loki always felt as if he was different. It didn't matter that people tried to treat him as if he were normal. He could never shake the feeling that he didn't belong.
It didn't help that he felt overlooked when it came to his father. It was Kajsa who he often found solace. She didn't try to treat him as if he were normal because she, too, believed that Loki was different.
But in a good way.
Kajsa loved his differences, his mischief, sarcasm, and dark humor. She loved and accepted him the way that he was.
Loki was the mischief to her calm, peaceful, docile nature. Falling in love was inevitable for the two.
Many people, like Heimdall, her father, disagreed with their relationship. After all, the god of mischief was no such man for the daughter of Heimdall. If he had his way, she'd marry Thor - his favorite.
Everyone's favorite.
Heimdall would never tell Odin that, however. It was only Thor and their parents who supported their relationship.
But nothing and no one could keep her away from Loki. Not even her father.
Loki gave her a smile in return, and she blushed.
Only Kajsa could put him in a good mood, even if it were just for a second. It would be difficult to get him out of a sour mood after Thor's coronation.
Loki was ready to be king, yet the son that Odin chose couldn't bother to show up on time. He wasn't going to talk about it, but Kajsa knew all too well it got under his skin and stayed there like a rash that wouldn't go away.
Kajsa sighed out of boredom. "He probably won't even show up."
"Don't be dramatic," Sif rolled her eyes. "He wants to be king."
