Chapter 4:

 JACKSON POV:

I couldn't get her out of my mind, the perfect wave in her hair and her sapphire blue eyes. I laid in my bed thinking about her, even after a week of no contact I still couldn’t get her out of my mind. It was noon and I hadn’t done anything all day. I finally pulled myself in to the bathroom and showered. After I threw on some sweats and settled in for a long relaxing day of football. The Packers were playing the Lions on 206 and the Lions were playing the Seahawks. I was born and raised in Wisconsin and my parents still live there. I bleed green and gold even from New York. On my fridge was a magnet of the Packers schedule. I was good friends with their quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. He launched a pass down the field and it landed right in Jordy Nelsons arms.

“Yes!” I cried out as Jordy was tackled at the 5. While the game trailed on my mind kept wandering to Ava. I grabbed my phone and looked at her contact info. To call her or not to call her. To call her.

“Hello?” a voice questioned from the other end.

“Hey, Its Jackson, from last friday…”

“Oh, hi, whats up.” Shit, I hadn’t thought of a respons.

“Uh…I uh… need my jacket back.” I wanted to shoot myself in the foot.

‘Um.. Yeah sure” She trailed off nervously

“But before maybe grab some dinner?” Good save.

“I’d really like that.” she beamed from the other end.

“Great, I’ll pick you up at 6” We said our goodbyes and hung up.

I threw my gaze back at the tv, the Packers kicked a field goal to tie up the game. I stood up and went into the kitchen to get a bottle of water. I looked out of my kitchen window at the city below me. Cars were bustling all around trying to get from one place to another. I loved living downtown New York. It was hard to get used to the first few weeks. Coming from Green Bay, Wisconsin, home of farm fields and cheese heads, the city was a huge change for me.

I decided to get off my lazy ass and do something today so I don't stress about my date today. I grabbed my gym bag and some shoes and went down to the parking garage. Walking to my car I heard some voices. I slowly crept over behind a car to see what was going on.

“This is a bad idea jacks,” I said to myself

A female was standing cornered by a guy, she was struggling to get out of there. Her face was covered with black streaks from her makeup. Her clothes were slutty and had holes in them. She shoved the guy away but he just kept coming back.

“Get away from me creep!” She spat at him. He backed up looking disgusted and sneered at her

“You know you want it skank.” he remarked, taking another step towards her, she cringed and spit at his feet, landing on his shoes.

“What the hell, Bitch?!” He exclaimed in frustration. He approached her like a hyena and slapped her right across her face. She crumpled to the floor after letting out a shriek of pain. He slowly reached for her but I couldn't take it any more. I jump out from behind the car and approached them. He raised a hand again to hit her but I grabbed his wrist and twisted it behind his back. The guy was about 6’3 and a kind of scrawny. His face was scruffy and dirty.

“What the hell?” he said struggling from my grasp.

“Don't ever touch her again!” I shouted, when he didn't answer I tightened my grip

“GOT IT?” I said again. He nodded his head, speechless at my sudden anger. I threw him to the concrete and he scampered away. I turned around to see the girl slowly getting up and wiping the tears from her face. Her cheek was red and was beginning to swell. At closer examination I would see more marks up and down her arms. Her left leg was bleeding and might have been broken.

“You didn't  need to do that.” she said barely whispering

“I can take care of myself.” She suddenly went from a lost puppy dog to a cool and collected girl.

“Really?” I questioned, “Because it looked like he was about to beat the shit out of you.”

She shook off my comment and took a step away from me, her eyes anywhere but my face. She took another step but this time on her left foot. in a matter of seconds she crumpled to the ground in pain. I rushed to her side and scooped her up in my arms. This time she didn't  protest as I sat her into my Lamborghini and drove to the hospital.
