Your Perspective

Aaah, so this is Mondstadt! I've lived in a small town for most of my life and seeing how huge this place is, it's dizzying really. Feeling a bit overwhelmed, I clutched onto the scarf my mother crafted for me. It's one of the few things I have reminded me of home. And one of the only items I took with me, apart, from clothes and my grandmother's blade. She was a knight of Favonius and so I'm following in her footsteps. Walking around for a bit and taking in the sights, it soon became rather apparent to me, that I was lost.

"Drat. How am I supposed to participate in the knight's selection if I cant even find the building." I muse aloud.

"I can help with that."

"GAH! D-Don't do that!" I said to the girl who somehow manifested next to me. She's a little shorter than me and has her hair tied into a ponytail. I then quickly apologize and say that I would gratefully accept her help. She motions for me to follow her and I do so. Minutes later, I find myself striking a conversation with this girl.

"Sooo, I'm (Y/N) (L/N). Nice to meet you . . . "

"Jean Gunhildr."

"Fancy name."

"I hail from the Gunhildr clan, long renowned for their swordsmanship as well as their ties to the knights of Favonius. So as a result I too am going to attend the knight's selection."

"Oh, that's pretty cool. Never heard of them, b-but you must be especially skilled." I say, feeling a bit outclassed by her skills. She noticed this and apologized for making me feel a little . . . underwhelming. I brushed her off and told her not to worry. Shrugging, she asks me what my story was.

"O-Oh, mine? I'm not t-that interesting."

"Well, I find you interesting. And I'd like to get to know you better. So go on."

"I-If you say so. I'm from a small town, far from here. And uh, I want to join the knights just like my grandmother did." I say, whilst messing with my scarf. Jean gives a small smile at this, telling me that's pretty heartwarming. I smiled sheepishly at this as we continued walking.

We got registered for the selection and she told me she was going to stay at an inn and asked where I would stay. I truthfully told her that the inn's prices far exceeded how much money I had on me. Jean's expression softened and she offered for me to stay with her.

"W-w-what? I can't possibly put that onto you! We just met after all-"

"Well, see it as a friend helping out a friend. Then perhaps it might be a little easier on you, no?" She said getting awfully close to my face. I awkwardly agreed with her, causing a smile to cross her face and for her to enter the inn. She has a graceful aura around her that kinda puts me at ease, to be honest. Maybe . . . I should stick it out with her.
