Lucy's P.O.V

Just finishing my late night shift, I began pacing home. The streets were quiet and somber. It's lights' flickered and my muffled footsteps filled the thin air.

I pulled over a jacket and continued walking the empty road.

I was always one to be aware of my surroundings; I was never thrown off in any sort of situation.

However, the stillness in this night gave me an unearthly and eerie feeling. Although I was walking alone, I felt like I could sense another presence around me. I glanced around with hesitation. Surely there was a possibility of running into someone in such a public area.

When it appeared the area around me was empty, I continued walking. I took a few more steps and began to notice something strange. Something in my footsteps felt heavier; they were louder than before. I turned around again.

Had I missed something? Someone?

Once again, empty.

I paced my walking even more. My steps were natural and muted at first, but all at once, they grew louder again. It couldn't have been just a coincidence. Was someone trying to match up their footstep pattern with mine?

I changed my footstep pace, delaying my step by just a short second. It was all it took. Thats when I heard it.

It was so quick and quiet, but a step was still a step. And it wasn't mine, that was for sure.

Just as I thought.

Someone was following me.

I turned around immediately and scanned what appeared as a lonely sidewalk behind me. My breathing became harsher and I began to grow scared.

I continued walking more uneasy. I felt a sense of panic in my chest. I saw my apartment just a few houses down the street. I decided to make a run for it. Little by little, I began to run. With each step, I felt myself running faster until I was at the familiar door that I greeted everyday.

I struggled taking out my keys from my purse. I then heard the noises behind me, coming closer to me. It eventually was now just a few feet behind me. Then it was close enough to touch me.

I managed to open my door and shut it hard behind me.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see if anyone was there. While taking a few deep breathes, I began moving away from the door, running to the nearest corner of the room.

Thinking the worst was over, I saw a neatly folded paper slide under my door.

I walked over to it feeling unsettled. I grabbed the paper and took a breathe before opening it. My body filled with fear as I read the neat cursive handwriting printed on the paper.

Don't hide dear, I'll only come and find you.
