Excerpt from “Show Me The Light”:
“H-hi. I’m Lux,” I told the boy. He was unusually tall and had a mop of curly hair that contained the perfect amount of luster. I looked at him intently, and my eyes must have been full of curiousity.
“I’m Harry.” He replied. His words were a bit slurred, and he looked as if he was about to fall over. He was definitely drunk. I looked at him and couldn’t put my finger on why he was so appealing to me. He was of a world I was yet to discover— and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to. He didn’t look dangerous, he actually looked rather harmless. He just looked as if his past was questionable. I stared at him, not knowing what to say next. He was bent over on top of my car, staring at me. His large hand was still remained on my wrist, and his grip was growing even tighter. His green eyes were piercing through me. What did I find so attractive about this boy? He was drunk, and I have a boyfriend.
I stood here, beside my car, staring at the boy who couldnt be any older than 20. My mouth started to open, but no words came out. He let go of my wrist, and it dropped down to my side. I looked at it. It was definitely going to bruise.
“W-well Harry. I need to get going. I have groceries to pick up.” I walked around him, to the driver’s seat of my car. I looked up at his lean figure, still standing beside my car. He didn’t look like he wanted to move anytime soon.
“Think-youcould-givemearidehome?” This time his words were so slurred that I had to say yes. This boy was in no condition to drive home. I nodded my head, and unlocked the doors. I climbed into the car, and Harry did to. I will probably instantly regret this decision, considering nothing good can happen. I realized that if I let him drive home, he could kill someone with the reckless driving. Still- this felt like a mistake.
