The mountain was silent, nobody felt the need to talk. As soon as the words had left Artemis' mouth she knew she had made a huge mistake. She didn't mean to hurt the teams bird, and the look Wally sent her just crushed her heart even more.
It had all started in the morning, the team was gathered in the main room, M'gann happily baking her cookies, sending out a 'hello megan' once she made a mistake, Aqualad was reading a book, Conner was watching his static and Artemis and Wally were arguing as usual. Everything seemed noreal until the zeta bean announced Robin's arrival.
Robin BO1. The robotic voice announced as the boy walked into the burnt cookie sented room. Wally grinned, happily running over to his little brother, ready to scoop him into a bear hug, but then he saw his face. He looked so sad... tear tracks were just visible, running from beneath his glasses and down his face. His dark hair sat over his glasses and even though Wally couldn't see them, he knew the boy was looking at the ground. Wally face dropped as he studied his little brothers posture, completely different to what it usually was. "Rob... what's wrong..?" Wally asked, then he remembered. Danm it! Wally thought, his grass green eyes widening, it's the anniversary of his parents deaths! I was supposed to ring him earlier too see how he was! Danm! "Oh... Rob, it's okay..." Wally mumbled, pulling his little brother into a warm hug. Sniffles could barley be heard from the youngest member as his shoulders lightly shook, "W-Wally... they're s-still gone..." he whispered.
"I know Rob... it's okay" Wally said, still hugging his young brother and best friend. The hug was almost as if it was an attempt to hold the young boy together, stop the cracks from appearing in his mask so it'd be easier to repair.
The team looked at the two boys, confusion plastered across their faces, "why...is Robin crying..?" Connor asked slowly, hesitating on wether the question was a good idea or not.
"I-It's nothing..." Robin replied, trying to keep his voice under control. It wasn't working.
"Of course it's nothing, Robin you're obviously sad, just let us in, we can help!" Artemis blurted out.
"N-No... I'm fine..."
"No you're not! Stop being so much like Batman, we know you're his son but that doesn't mean you have to act just like him!" She said quickly, the words tumbling out of her mouth before she could stop them.
"He's not my Dad." Robin whispered as more tears fell down his face before he left the room.
Wally sent his girlfriend a death glare before speeding off after Robin.
He found the small boy in his bedroom sat upon the cream bed in the corner, his knees pulled up to his chest as he stared at the fluffy cream carpet. "Rob... are you okay..?" Stupid question, of course he isn't! "N-no... KF it's been 5 years now..." he whispered.
"Yeah... you're 14 now huh, they'd be proud of you Rob. They'd be so happy if they could see you now." Wally said, looking sadly at the boy as he removed his sunglasses, moving them around and studying the lights reflection in them with his tear filled, dull blue eyes. "I don't know Wally... I think I'd just dissapoint them..."
"Of course you wouldn't! Dick, you're Robin, protégé to Batman! Even superpowered teens that are twice you're size struggle to take you down in training! And that's only if you haven't already taken them down!" Wally cried out, waving his hands for effect.
"Yeah but... I just don't think they'd approve of it..."
"You know they would Dick, they always have and always will be proud of you." Wally said, hugging the boy from the side.
"T-thanks Wally..." Dick whispered.
"Did you go see them today?" Wally asked carefully, receiving a strained nod. "Yeah, I-I just wish I could see them in person... I really miss them..." Dick said, more tears falling onto his hoodie sleeves which held his arms that were resting beteween his knees and chin.
"I know dude, you just have to stay strong." Wally said, placing his hand on the boy's shoulder.
"O-Okay"
"Okay, do you want anything Rob?" Wally asked, shifting slightly.
"No thanks Wally" Dick said quietly, "thankyou."
"Anytime Rob." Wally said, hugging his brother again, "if you ever need anything I'm here, okay? Don't be afraid to ask."
"Okay" Dick nodded, "thanks."
AN. So, this book will just enclude a bunch of one shots about young justice, Robin and Kid Flash. Maybe the others too. Most of them will be dark or sad in some way but I can do a few happy ones too.
If you want a part two of a one shot then either PM me or comment on the chapter, also if you have any requests, feel free to ask. Just message me, write on my message board or comment on the chapter.
Requests could be about:
• Birdflash
• Dick Grayson
• Wally West
• Batman and Robin
• Anything with any of my OC's from any of my other books
• Anything at all really, I do best at dark ones but happy ones can be done too! Just send in the request and I'll get started! :D
