"DISASTER!" "WHAT AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER!" Ah what joy, my little sister had decided that it would be best for her to actually be at home on the night where something important is actually happening.
"MOTHER, DID YOU SEE WHAT THAT BITCH DID TO ME?!"
Yeah.. I don't care what my dad says I'm committing murder tonight."LOOK AT MY HAIR HOW AM I SUPPOSE-"
"Angie, would you kindly shut up!?" My father boomed from downstairs, making me laugh.
At least that was her out of my ear, causing me more stress, at this rate I was gonna burn the whole arm off of myself with the curling iron, for a trained hunter I was clumsy with literally anything but a weapon. My mother burst into my room and stopped in her tracks when she seen me, I didn't know what that meant because I don't think I've ever seen her DK that before and then she started tearing up, "Oh my god mama?" I got up and hugged her gently
"Are you ok, what happened?" I held her shoulders, concerned, my mother was a delicate woman so she wasn't too good at holding back emotion, but it still hurt to see her cry.
"No... it's just..." She placed her hand on my cheek before twirling one of my curls around her finger, "You are beautiful Gwen."
I was a bit shocked, but relieved all the same "Mama, don't do that to me, you gave me a bloody heart attack." I said releasing her from my grasp and placing my hand on my forehead to bring myself back to earth.
"Now none of that language when you meet Dominic dear, he's a very well mannered young man,"
"Arrogant" I muttered as I grabbed my clutch.
"With great respectability,"
"And no respect for women.." I lifted my head as I linked arms with my mother and began walking down the stairs.
"Give him a chance Gwen, please, for your mama?" She used her pleading voice, I hate it when she did that.
I nodded in response, I was dreading this whole thing, but at the same time I'm a confident woman, I know I look good and I know I'm a good person, I'm just hoping I don't have to spend the night with a prick who just wants the money. As we descended the rest of the stair case and made our way to the ballroom, I was getting into my public mode, smile, be polite and don't show weakness.
The large gold lined double doors opened and the silence that fell as my father entered with me and my mother behind was so intense, it sounded louder than my sister earlier.
My father hinted to begin playing the music and it didn't take more than a second for the volume of chatter to descend.
Older men started to get her around my father, business men I really didn't know any of them, and I expected he would walk off with them but he instead dismissed them and walked over to me, fuck it anyways I thought he might have forgotten."Guinevere," He took my arm and glided me over to one of the tables outlining the dance space where I could see a large figure in a suit, wow talk about blind dates.
"Prince Dominic Masen." My father introduced him before creeping away with a grin on his face, but something about his eyes hinted towards fear, although I didn't get a good look before I whipped my head around and holy shit.
He was easily 6'2, if not more and I went weak in the knees when my eyes met his, sweet god he looked like a god, his face perfectly sculpted, more dangerous than angelic though, his dark hair was swept back and he had the darkest blue eyes I'd ever seen, no he wasn't a God, he was too powerful, too rugged, he might even be better described as the devil.
"Guinevere." He tilted his head and reached out his tanned hand, he had more rings on than I even owned, I placed my hand in his as he brought it to his lips, kissing my knuckles but his eyes never left mine.
"Dominic.""I can see why my father was so eager for me to meet you, you live up to your reputation Princess." He stated, a compliment I presume, I couldn't exactly tell whether it was because his eyes were distracting me or because he didn't show any emotion.
"Gwen, please, no need for formality." I smiled, he just nodded in response, "or just ignore me altogether that works too" I thought to myself.
"I don't plan on staying long." He finally said, I sort of felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders but also a little disappointed.
"You aren't a fan of dancing?"
"I have more important things to attend to?" He eyed me in a way that said "unlike some people" and suddenly I was ready to walk off, so I did.
Unfortunately as I turned to walk away, he grabbed my wrist holding me in place with a tight grip, it was painful but I didn't show it, "Forgive me," He loosened his grip but still held my wrist, "I'd prefer it if you stayed close so that when we need to leave I don't have to search for you." He said, it suddenly occurred to me just how young he looked.
"When we leave?" He seemed a little taken aback by my confusion, but then something hit him like a wave and all of his tension released, "You don't know?"
Ok now I was really confused, "W-", suddenly I was blinded by a spotlight that seemed to be following my father as he approached me, with a microphone in his hand, "May I have everyone's attention please. I'd like to officially announce, the royal engagement of my daughter, Guinevere and Prince Dominic."
Cameras were flashing, my father was smiling, clapping, my hands were shaking, lights were on us, clapping, cheering, clapping...
-I'm thinking of doing a Dominic POV for the next chapter.
