Just a Coffee Shop AU (BF x GF x Pico)

Chap. 2: Hello Neighbor!

BF POV

After putting down the last empty box, I give myself a huge stretch, then sigh.
Finally, I'm moved in!
Well- not completely.
I still have a bunch of stuff to do. Like organizing or buying... A lot of stuff-
Yeah I don't think I'll have time to rest.

After this sentence, my thoughts went down a sort of rabbit hole. Thinking about what to do after I get set up, where to do...
..

Just then, I felt a rumble, and got snapped out of my thoughts.

"..What the heck?" I looked around.

Is there something damaged? ..Dang I should've looked around a bit more before renting this place...

Then, I felt it again..
It came from me.

I was just hungry.

"..Hahh..." I sighed in relief. I should probably take a rest...

I wonder if there are any fast food places nearby..

With those thoughts being my main goal, I walked out of my new home.

As I stepped out of the house, I noticed the sky had definitely gone dark.

"Jeez how long was I unpacking??"

I sigh to myself for the 20th time today. I probably need to chill.

That's when I noticed. A small black and white figure zoom past me.

"..Huh?"

And moments later, I heard it yell out.

"C'mon Pump! We gotta go!"
"I'm coming! Hold on!"

I looked over to what had yelled, and I see a... Child.. dressed in what seems like a Halloween skeleton costume? What the heck?

"Oof!"
And that's when I felt something bump into me. I flinched and turned around.
I see another child. This one is dressed up in a Pumpkin costume..

Do these kids know Halloween isn't for another 5 months??

Looks like he didn't expect to run into me, cuz he lost his balance and fell.

"..Sorry sir!"

"Uh- It's okay kid."
I reached out my hand to help him up.  He gave me a toothy grin and took my hand.

"Pump! Are you okay?" I peered over my shoulder, and it looked like the skeleton ran over to see if his friend was okay.

"Yup! I'm okay Skid!" And he looked over at me. "Thanks for helping me up mister!"

Saying nothing, I gave them a simple nod. Honestly what am I supposed to say..?? This situation seems so weird..

"Hey!" The skeleton peered. "Aren't you the guy that moved in here? You're our new neighbor, right?"

I stood there for a split second, confused.

"Oh- you're my neighbors?"

"Yep!" The skeleton extended a hand. "I am Skid! And this is Pump! I live next door to the right!"

Pump chimed in. "And I live next door to the left!"

This is weird..

Not leaving Skid hanging, I shook his hand. "Well nice to meet you! It's always nice to meet the neighbors I guess.. I'm Boyfriend!"

And that's when we heard a woman calling out from Skid's house.

"Kids! You forgot your phones!"

"Oops! Sorry mum!" Skid called back, then turned to look at me. "Here! Come with us blue man!"

"Huh?" Before I could think I was already being dragged by the arm from these kids.
I looked over at the doorframe to Skid's house.
The woman who had called out to us; Their mom I think? Looked pretty tired. Guess she wasn't feeling it today.

She sighed and handed the two kids their phones. "You two have fun alright? And don't go summoning any more demons." Wait summoning anymore what-
"We won't!" The kids said in perfect unison.

As I watched them sprint off, I turned to the woman. "Are they yours?"

She looked over at me and grinned. "Just the skeleton. Are you new here?"

"Yeah I just moved in! I live next door."

"Well it's always nice to have a new neighbor! I'm Lila. Let me know if you need anything!" She gave a warm smile and extended a hand.

Thank God I have nice neighbors-

I took her hand and shook it. "Boyfriend. Pleased to meet you!"

And as if on cue, my stomach reminded me why I went outside in the first place.

"Oh- do you know any places to get food around here?" I grinned, a bit embarrassed.

Lila just laughed it off and pointed to my right. "Just head down that street and you'll find a bunch of stores, pharmacies, and fast food places.
If you want a recommendation, I recommend the Demon Decaf! It's a coffee shop, but it's also got sandwiches and stuff. You can't miss it!"

"Ah! Thank you!" I gave her a polite nod and started to head in the direction, but before I could take my first step Lila stopped me.

"Actually I think the boys were headed down there. Think you could keep an eye on them? They always are a handful to others."

"Oh- Okay! Got it."

"Thank you so much!"

And with that, we waved goodbye.

Time to finally get something to eat.. I'm pretty much starving.
