Large mahogany doors open to a band of inpatient wanderers, each fiddling with objects that mean much to them. The sorcerer stops twirling his finger in a circle, which in turn stops the blue aura flitting about to stop flying around his finger. The enchantress stops rubbing her pendant, the knight stops sharpening his sword. The medium opens her eyes, the dragonborn looks with a cat-slitted eye to the doors. The thief stops counting her silver, and the artist stops painting, they all look to the doors expectedly, waiting for the King’s servant to request their presence. They all stand expectedly, and watch as a small lady, the size of a year grown cherry tree, with a bent back smiles at them. “What a fine group of warriors, the King requests your presence immediately." She says to the band with a wink towards the knight’s direction. His cheeks tinge the color of petals and a scowl forms on his face; he turns his head away from the old lady.
The group follow the servant down a hallway that is carpeted in royal purple sheep wool, with painting of beautiful landscapes on either side of them and portraits of previous rulers of the country of Barzane. Stone walls decorated with alcoves and frescoes cover their left and right. High above them, oak rafters hold the weight of the pointed ceiling that could be viewed from a three leagues away. The band of warriors all look amongst themselves anxiously, they all know what they were called here for, the tension in the atmosphere rose. The servant opened a second set of doors for the band to come through, instead of close hallways like the last corridor, this room was spacious and decorated in warm colors. On a stone throne that was furnished with the pelt of a bear lie the King himself, who was lounging on the chair halfheartedly. He hung his legs over the arm of the throne and lay across the chair, he looked at the group, smirked smugly, and then raised a glass of white wine towards them, beckoning to come closer.
The group advanced and the first person to bow was the knight, he lowered himself to one knee, with a “My liege,” the rest followed his ministrations. The king was furnished in a robe and cape, his golden crown was tilted on his head as if he had been drinking and then moving about far too much. His blonde hair and blue eyes gave him the look of royalty, his fading beard make him look more masculine compared to his smaller stature. “Ah, our heroes, come to stop the forces of the Weght, a deadly group of assassins that have been eating at our military and defensive sources for months now. A worthy quest for you adolescents, I was told of you by my closest friend, and mightiest general in our army, he said that you mates are the best there is, introduce yourselves, starting with you there.” The king pointed at the sorcerer, he stood and said, “I am Nicklaus, sorcerer from the land of Auras.” The next person stood, “I am Mila Rose, my liege, an enchantress from deep in the forest.”, her introduction made him give a slight smile as if it were some inside joke. This proceeded down the line, Charles, a knight from the West, Snow, a medium from mountains in the North, Lily Belle, a dragonborn from the village of Kaar, her eyes seemed to be the darkest of the group, but they were also filled with kindness,Kaza, a wandering thief, and Admin, an artist who traveled the world, it was said that his drawings were brought to life. “Your mission is simple, eliminate enemy assassins that are taking down our higher-ups. Leave no trace at all. You’re dismissed, I have..work.. to do.” The king trailed off, he waved his hand toward the doors ungracefully and continued sipping his white wine. The band of now hired mercenaries walked towards the doors and regrouped outside the palace. “We should start directly tomorrow morning, gather supplies for the trip, and do not forget weapons.” The group split off in different directions, all seven of them.
