~ Chapter One
"Haunted by arrows"Dry laughter fell out of her lips as she looked up to face her sister who stood with a mightier than thou stance. A look of disbelief present on her face that was only visible due to the swinging light above them. The shiny arrowhead was blinding and Addy had finally understood everything.
"I finally understand it. You always had to be perfect, didn't you? You always had to prove that you were better than me: to Scott, to Isaac, to Lydia, to our dad, to our mother." As she listed the names each syllable became more bitter and more aggressive.
Allison shook her head; the disbelief had now filled her eyes, "You're being absurd Addie. I never did anything wrong. I had to prove that I was perfect, better than you?" She laughed. Silence fell between the two and the tension rose. "Look at yourself, I didn't even have to try. I am better than you, and everyone knows it."
The silence became too heavy and Addie's ears were overwhelmed with the sound of blood coursing through them. "I'm calling your bullshit Allison! Scott won't, but I sure as hell will."
"Don't be so emotional. That's one of the first lessons we learned, or have you forgotten." She stated matter of factly, voice laced with a sweet poison that was so subtle that
"Don't call me that, don't ever call me that again!" Allison knew she had struck a nerve which is partially what she wanted to do. Maybe this would keep her away from Void. Her eyes became teary for a second thinking about how this could potentially be the last time she saw her baby sister. She turned away hoping that Adelaide wouldn't see, but she did see.

Following her sister Addie kept her dagger hidden in her boot and arrows on her back, eyes fierce and wild, searching everywhere. She could've sworn that she saw Allison headed this way. It was dark and cold, and there was nothing Addie hated more than the cold. This wasn't just any cold, it was a cold that consumed everything; it was then that Addie knew something was very wrong. Oak Creek was splayed on the gate and she heard something about Isaac only being there because he didn't want to do homework. She smiled at Isaac's honesty, and glanced down at the big sweatshirt he had gifted her a month ago.
She decided against walking straight through the gates like an amateur. She slowly made her way to another side. While hiding, her head peeked out from behind a car and saw dark masked people, if you could call them people. Then she saw her sister's bow drawback and the arrowhead shining in the moonlight. The arrow left the bow, soaring through the crisp air. It suddenly struck the masked creature, and it disappeared. She had killed it, whatever it was. Allison smiled proudly like she had just won an Olympic gold medal. That was when it happened, the scream, and the creature's friend impaling her sister. It had all happened so fast, and then Addie's feet moved, taking her through that gate. She snatched the dagger from her boot and it flew and hit the thing square in the chest. Addie looked down and saw Scott holding her sister in his arms.
"It's okay. I'm okay," Allison says weakly. She heard a cry, well more like a sob, and saw her sister fall to her knees.
Addie crawled to her sister, eyes clouded with hot tears that began to pour like a waterfall. "Alli, don't leave me. We can fix you, don't leave me!" She looked around and no one even made a move. Time moved slowly as she looked back down. "I love you Alli, I love you! I'm so sorry, so sor-" She clenched on to her sister and brought her up to her chest.
"Don't be sorry, I'll love you forever." Allison turned to Scott, "Take care of her, please? Please take care of her." Then her eyes close slowly, and suddenly her hand hits the concrete. Addie's worst nightmare became reality and she let out a gut-wrenching scream.

Double doors blasted open startling Addie who's eyes were dazed and bloodshot from the lack of sleep and the insufferable insomnia. She lifted her head slowly and saw two boys standing in the doorway, stopping after spotting her. She saw someone who last she knew was possessed by something called a Nogitsune, or whatever the hell Lydia called it. She then locked eyes with Scott, he smiled sympathetically.
"Hey Addie!" Flinching hardly Addie's gaze drifted to him. He, who killed the most important person in her life. Before tears could spill, she brushed past the two and made her way to the girls' bathroom.
"I thought she would be doing better now, but you saw the look on her face. She was terrified; terrified of me." Stiles sighed after his mouthful of words. Scott met his eyes and could see the guilt. "She blames me doesn't she?"
"Just give her more time, she'll come around. I know she will." Scott followed Addie and stood outside the door of the bathroom. That's when he heard the painful sniffles, and he knew that there was no way she could do this by herself.
"I just don't want her to blame me. I already hate myself for it." stiles mumbled out. Suddenly a head of fiery red hair came into sight and approached the two wearily.
"What are you two doing? You do know that that is the girls bathroom, right." She sighed and noticed Scott's pained expression and walked into the bathroom. As soon as she walked in she heard sniffles and a toilet flushing. A girl whose brown hair was now a mop walked out slowly rubbing her puffy red eyes. Lydia took in her appearance and approached the girl carefully. "Are you okay Addie?" Lydia waited patiently for a response.
After rubbing her eyes for the nth time she met Lydia's eyes, "I'm fine, don't worry about me."
Holland took a deep breath and snarkily said, "Well if you're fine like you say you are, we should go talk to Scott and Stiles." Addie suddenly looked petrified and fastly shook her head.
"No, I am not okay, but you already knew that didn't you..." Lydia rubbed her shoulder lovingly and brought her in for a hug. A vanilla scent wafted through Addie's nose as she finally calmed down.
"How about we ditch this popsicle stand and go on drive? We could all use a little break from this place." Addie nodded her head signaling a yes to the redhead.
Arms linked as they walked out and came across the two boys once again. "We would really love to stay, but we have to get to practice before coach benches us and our," Stiles patted Scott's shoulder, "lovely captain has to warm up before tryouts tomorrow." The group dispersed, the two girls walking to Lydia's car and the boys heading to practice.
