There was a fair maiden outside her home hanging freshly washed sheets on a tight rope. She clipped away as she hummed a sweet tune, a melody to what she believed her mother sang to her as an infant. She never had the chance to meet her mother but was fortunate enough to meet her father. Even for a short amount of time she still had fond memories of him.

Months after her mother's passing, her father re-married to an attractive woman. She had a pale complexion similar to the moon, long black silky hair, and the most hypnotic blue eyes that pierce through your soul if you'd dare to cross her. But she was a kind soul to the girls and never dared to lay a single finger on them. They seemed like the perfect family nonetheless. Unfortunately, life had other plans in mind.

Matthew (L/N), the father of the twins was soon found lifeless in his office. No evidence was found of bullets or any sign of struggle. The policemen predicted that the cause of death was a stroke. The girl's hearts crumbled into bits and pieces. Matthew was indeed an extraordinary father. He would always make time for his daughters whether it was partaking in tea parties to horse riding thru the meadow. The man would preserve the memory of his first wife Maria by singing a special lullaby she made just for the girls.

Despite the tragedy, the youngest sister remained optimistic. "Hey don't worry big sister we aren't alone in this world. We have our stepmother to care for us." The youngest twin's smile lit a beacon of hope in the eldest heart. But little did they knew their "motherly" figure's mask was slipping off.

Slowly but surely as time passed, the woman's true colors started to show. She would belittle the girl's looks and enslaved them into hard labor. Cook, clean, wash, and dust is all they did while the wicked stepmother wasted her deceased husband's riches to maintain her luxurious lifestyle.

The fair maiden finished hanging the last sheet she releases a sigh of relief and heads inside the house to fetch the other batch of clothing. Just then she is met face to face with her stepmother. "Why aren't my dresses hanged yet?"

"My apologies stepmother but I was busy hanging the sheets. I didn't want to get your dresses dirty so I left them here-"

"You stupid child! I've told you very clear to hang my dresses first! What am I going to wear to the Smiths dinner party?! Do you expect me to show up nude?!"

"I'm sorry."

"Tch If only your sister was here...oh that's right, she is dead because of you!" With that, the woman turns around and walks away abandoning the broken child. Just then she stops midway through the door. "You better pray those dresses dry before the sunsets. If not, say hello to Rosie for me." The wicked woman then shuts the door behind her.

A single teardrop falls on the maiden's (s/c) skin. She picks up the laundry basket and heads outside. As she hangs the dresses, the red lace on her hair was getting loose so she gently pulled the lace out of her (h/l) (h/t) hair. The girl examines the scarlet lace as her fingertips brush thru the fabric. She turns to the nearest glass window, looks into her reflection. When she proceeds to tie her hair, a flash of her past appears before her eyes.

Cheeky giggles echoed thru the floral room. A pair of smooth (s/c) hands gently tie a red ribbon on (h/l)/(h/t).
"Okay (Y/n) you can look up now." (Y/n) looks at her reflection on the large mirror. The youngest twin was wearing white lace that was tied into a bow similar to her eldest sister. Rosie smiles brightly. " You look like me now! And I look like you!" She giggles. " Let's go, prank father! But this time can you please make an effort to impersonate me?"

A small smile was plastered on (Y/n) face. She takes a deep breath then proceeds to continue her chores.

She hanged her stepmother's silky dresses. As she does she starts to question herself, 'Was it truly my fault? I tried to save you, Rosie. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I've failed you!'

Just then another flashback of her sister.

Her lifeless body was lying anterior to the ground. A large sharp rock cracked open her skull. The ground was drenched in her blood.

"ROSIE!"

(Y/n) eyes shot with horror. Her body started to lose its balance, letting herself fall on her knees in despair. She gripped her worn-down dress as she cursed underneath her breath.

"Rosie...I'm sorry I let you down. Please forgive me." She hiccuped

Her tears ran down her face uncontrollably.

Why has misfortune fallen onto her?
