Chapter 11

-Tegan’s POV-

“I’ll be back,” her words kept replaying in my mind,

I couldn’t believe that we met her just a day back. Here I am lying on my bed and staring at the ceiling. I wonder what the others are doing…I’ll go check,

I came down the stairs to see the others also procrastinating, uh, I mean being ordinary,

Will was reading in a corner, Zade and Ace were watching TV and as usual Jayden was cooking.

Why isn’t anyone freaked out? Why aren’t they talking about the obvious problem?

Well if you take it that way, I’m not being an extrovert about the case too,

“You know what? You’re all pussies!” I broke out,

They all looked at me,

“…and you’re a dick?” Zade said in his infamous neutral tone,

Ace raised his eyebrow and curved his lips as a sign of approval. Will shook his head and continued reading his book,

I narrowed my eyelids and said, “I’m serious here,” I went over to the dining table and commanded, “I want you all to assemble here.”

“You, pretty boy!” I pointed at Will,

“Me?” he mouthed,

“Yes you, come up here,”

“O-Kay. . .”

“And you two smart asses sitting on the couch too,” I continued,

Zade sighed but got up,

“That includes you too, Blondie.” I said and a laugh escaped Jayden’s mouth,

“Excuse me?” Ace said,

“You heard me,”

He got up and came up to me slowly. He came closer and closer, his face was too near to mine for me to feel comfortable,

His eyes never left mine and his face was stone straight, only inches away from my face now,

Then he…

Grinned,

Yes he did,

Damn that guy scared the bullocks out of me. I sighed as lightly as I could,

“Now I want to know what the F*ck are we gonna do,” I said finally,

After a few moments of silence, Zade said, “Which pot are you smoking?”

“I’m not high Zade. I’m giving a damn about what happened yesterday, unlike you guys, who’re freaking waiting for something to happen. Good or bad,”

That shut him up. That shut them all up.

So I continued, “She’s alive and our screwed up past is back. Turns out our life isn’t that perfect after all--“

“Stop it Tegan, we all know that, we just, we just need to…” Jay pleaded and ran his hand through his hair,

And that’s when I stopped being immature,

“I know the solution,” Ace said and brought a candle from the shelf

I held my breath for what he was going to do next

He pressed the candle wick with his index finger and thumb and… it…lilted,

My mouth went dry. No words came out from my lips. I don’t think I was shocked by the lighting up of the candle but the fact that he did that, it was like he broke the ice or something,

I raised my hand and with one flick of a finger the flame was blown off. It was a reflex, completely involuntary. I’m not sure if it was a good one or a bad one.
