Mike walked into his house where his best friend Lilian and him live. She has lived with him for the past 2 months since her apartment building caught on fire from a gas leak.
Mike goes into his bedroom and shuts the door behind him, he takes off his clothes and gets in the shower. He let the water run down his face while he contemplated telling his best friend that he was in love with her.
Mike's Thoughts
What if I tell her and she doesn't feel the same way ? This will make it awkward between us. I need to tell her, I can't live like this anymore. She's dating men who aren't good enough for her. I could be what she needs. I want what's best for her which I pray is me. I love her. I'm going to tell her.
Mike walks down the steps to find Lili in the kitchen at the table on her computer. Mike takes a deep breath, walks in the kitchen and says " We need to talk, I have to tell you something ". Lili looks up and noticed his discomfort. Lili closes her computer and says " What's up Mickey ? "
Mike sits next to her and spins her chair toward him so they were facing each other. Mike says " This is hard for me to tell you because you may have a bad reaction but I couldn't deal with it anymore. You are my best friend and we have been best friends since freshmen year of college ". Lili says " Yes we have and you can tell me anything. Now what has you this nervous ".
Mike grabs Lili's hand and says " I wanted to tell you that I'm glad that you are staying with me and you can stay as long as you need. Your home is my home ". Lili laughs and says " Thank you very much Mickey. I appreciate it. ". Lili hugs him and says " Come on let's sit on the couch our show starts soon and I ordered Chinese "
Lili walked Mike over to the couch. They sat down and watched Saturday Night Live which was there tradition every Saturday night was there time to talk, laugh, cry. This tradition has been set in stone since college.
2 hours later Lili was laying on her side cuddled beside Mike. He kissed her cheek and said " I love you Lilian Mitchell ". Lili said " I love you too Michael Coleson ". Mike wasn't sure if she really meant it and was in love with him or if she was saying it as friends. To Mike it didn't matter as long as she loved him.
He turned off the T.V, slowly moved from behind Lili, threw the trash away, turned out the lights. He picked up Lili wedding style and carried her to her bedroom, placed the covers over her, kissed her forehead. He turned off the hall light, walked up the steps to his bedroom, got in his bed and said " God if she's meant to be with me please show me a sign ".
