Wasting My Young Years
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••January 1996
Evangeline woke to a banging headache, she narrowed her eyes trying to read the clock perched on her nightstand. 10am. She had overslept. It was the first day back to Hogwarts today and she only had an hour to get ready. Evangeline groaned, pulling herself from the warm sheets into the cold room. She looked over to her bedside table where a fresh hot green tea stood. Edie must have left it there for her. She sipped it and made her way into the bathroom, dreading the sight she was about to see in the mirror. Yawning loudly she stretched her arms out, a small drop of green tea fell from the cup and onto the floor. She wiped the floor with the sock on her foot and jumped into the shower. She quickly washed her hair with her usual lavender shampoo, washing her face and body within a couple of minutes. She brushed her teeth whilst drying her body over with the towel. She applied some rose moisturiser all over and stepped out into the room letting it dry with the cool air. She opened the wardrobe and pulled on her underwear. 10:20.
Evangeline peered out the window and realised that it was a miserable rainy day so needed something warm and cosy to wear. Flicking through her clothes, she finally decided on a beige sleeveless polo neck top, some leather look jeans and biker boots. She pulled out her black longline coat and hung it over the back of the chair for when they were leaving. She couldn't be bothered styling her hair today so left it to dry naturally, which was gently curled, sort of frizzy but cute she thought. Evangeline applied some brown eyeliner and mascara to her eyes and brushed through her eyebrows. Her face felt pale so she applied a darker foundation than normal and added some blusher to bring some colour back into her face. Last step was her lips, she emptied out her whole makeup bag but couldn't find it, my favourite lipstick. She entered the bathroom one last time and took a look around in there but it was no where to be found. She glanced over at the clock, 10:38. Shit. Lipgloss it was.
Evangeline rushed down the stairs to find her parents waiting for her, the trunk was already at the bottom of the stairs. Her father returned home on the 28th of December after a long trip away regarding ministry business. He never divulged information on what he had to do or why he was gone so long and Evangeline never asked any questions. But on the 1st of January Edie and Ezra left around 6pm in the evening and did not return until early afternoon of the 2nd. It was now the 3rd. Edie briefly mentioned that herself and Ezra had been invited to a party held at one of his fellow work friends. But Evangeline didn't buy it. They never attended parties and why would they leave her behind? Most of Era's work friends she knew and they all had children her age. Evangeline opened the trunk and threw her makeup bag inside closing the latches for the final time.
They arrived at the platform at 10:45. Evangeline spotted Pansy straight away, her hair blowing in the wind as she stood against her trunk. She caught her eye and began waving over "Pansy is over there I best get going" Evangeline turned to her parents and gave them a quick smile as she went to grab the trunk from her fathers grip.
