Chris stared aimlessly out the window, softly humming to his plants as they quivered at his magical energy. It was a dreary afternoon, and he had nothing to do but wait while Sarah and Lucidia were out shopping.

He was sitting at the front desk of their building. It was their office and their home. They were fired for adventures or work. Most people got them to help with animals, or build things. Rarely did they get real adventures.

The last big adventure Chris has gone on was when the three were hired by a farmer to hunt down the monsters that had been killing his animals. It had turned out to be a basilisk, and they barely took it down.

Chris shot up as the door opened loudly. His two companions walked in, carrying supplies between them.

"Hey there Chris!" Sarah said as she dropped the food on the table, and Lucidia followed suit. Lucidia hung her long black coat on a chair and sat down. Chris went back to the front and locked the door and sat down with the girls at the table. "I see shopping went well?" He asked. Sarah smiled. "Yeah. I only stole like, 3 things." Chris sighed. "Sarah, you shouldn't steal! Those people need that money." He turned to Lucidia. "I thought I told you to keep her out of trouble." Lucidia shrugged. "She said that she would steal something for me. And she did." She pulled out a small golden compass from her pouch.

"I paid to have it enchanted, don't worry. It points to here at all times. So instead of having to find north and get here, we have a direct route. It also does this." She threw it in another room. Halfway through the air it disappeared. Chris's eyes were brought back to Lucidia as she dangled it from her hand. "Hm, a good charm for sure."

Sarah was sitting there munching on a slice of bread. "So," she said as she finished her bread. "Did we get any customers today?" Chris shook his head. "None. I know peace should be a good thing, but dammit, we need the money." They sat in solemn silence. There was suddenly a sharp knock on the door. They all looked at each other.
