Marinette stares blearily into the whiteboard of her English class, blinking ever so slowly, the sun pouring onto her crystal blue eyes. She yawns and lays back in her seat, trying to stay awake. She had been kept up night after night to fight akumas with her leather clad partner Chat noir.
"Can this class ever come to an end" she thought with a soft groan escaping her lips. Just as she layed farther back in her seat a loud clang of something metal falling and hitting the floor startled nearly every student in the building, her attention alert, she sat up briskly. Her head jerked towards the direction the sound came from. The teacher had stopped droning on, to also await any further commotion, something the people of Paris were used to looking for while akuma surges overtook the city's peace. The worst was yet to come and more crashing and banging could be heard echoing through the empty halls. "Do not panic class, single file follow me to the exit" the teacher calmly encouraged everyone to follow her, everyone obliged, used to this routine of following commands for their own safety, akuma battles have gotten more intense lately, precautions have been put in place by the city's officials. Marinette, however, was not planning on following these precautions. She immediately, once out of view, slipped out of the line and dashed into the nearest bathroom, if her mind and body hadn't been so preoccupied with that task, she would have noticed a certain blonde classmate doing the exact same. As soon as she could no longer hear voices dashing through the halls she opened her handmade purse to allow her delicately glowing Kwami, Tikki, to fly out.
"Ready for some action Marinette?" The little magical beaning said with a grin, Marinette smirked and struck a pose with her hand on her hip.
"Always ready Tikki, now, spots on!" She called out her transformation line and a pink glow began to envelop her body, slowly turning her ordinary clothing into a supersuit covered with a brilliant red and small black dots, along with a mask matching the pattern, the mask that hides her from the world. Little did she know , a very similar process was taking place shortly down the hall in the men's room. Both ladybug and Chat noir bursted out of the bathrooms, oblivious of each others movements, and listened for where the crashing and screaming of onlooking Paris citizens was coming from. They both realized it was coming from the gymnasium. Running as fast as speed would allow they both bursted into the room, almost simultaneously, alerting eachother of their presence.
"You look beautiful as always M'lady, oops shouldn't have said that! But now the cats out of the bag" Chat noir said with a purr and a wink. Ladybug merely rolled her eyes and responded with a simple
"Not the time kitty cat"
"Meouch, dont worry, this cat still has 8 lives left" he replied with a smirk. This time ladybug couldn't help but let out a giggle, but she was soon brought back to reality by the severity of the situation. Standing in front of them was a 20ft tall robotic man, covered in mobs and buttons head to toe. Ladybug and chat noir have dealt with large akumas before, but Marinette had a bad feeling today.
"Alright you know the drill! Distract him while I look for the akuma!" She called out loudly to her partner, hoping he would hear her of the sound of the gym being ripped apart by the robot. He nodded in agreement, acknowledging that he heard her. They both sprung into action, Marinette latching her yo-yo onto a low-hanging beam, pulling herself to the room for a better viewing point. Chat was calling out to the robot, teasing him with puns, circling him and holding his attention for her. Her eyes pierced into the akumatized victim, searching over and over again for the object in which contained the akuma.
"Hes holding a remote...the remote!" She quickly realized. She cupped her hands to enhance her volume and yelled down to her feline friend
"Chat noir! The remote!"
He nodded back in agreement, smirking once again knowing that they were close to a win. Marinette swung herself back down to the floor and swung a lasso at the robot, trapping his arms behind his back, she was proud, catching the akuma in record time! What a win! But unfortunately this win didn't last long, her moment of distraction made her lose grip on the robot, his arm coming free and swinging at her
"Ladyb-!" Chat started to yell out but it was too late. Ladybug was hit, she flew back with great force and hit the wall. Hard. She heard really terrible sounds of cracking, most likely her ribs, and felt blood trickle underneath her suit. She grimaced and groaned in pain. Chat noir rushed to her side"My lady! Ladybug! Are you ok?" He worriedly called out to her, panting from running so fast. She had been hurt before, and so had he, but it wasn't like this, this time she needed medical attention, but him knowing that could give away her true identity, it would be more than a coincidence if she and Marinette both ended up in a hospital with similar wounds. So she lied.
"Just a scratch Chat, I'm fine! Now let's catch that akuma!" She winced as she stood up, something that was luckily missed by her partner, they rushed towards the robot, chat deflecting his blows with the baton. Ladybug tried again to tie up the akuma, this time succeeding, allowing chat to use his cataclysm to destroy the remote. Out flying a small black and purple glowing butterfly. Marinette swung her yo-yo to catch the butterfly, ignoring the pain it caused, purifying the creature before releasing it"Bye bye little butterfly" she had said that phrase more than a thousand times, things stick. She turned to her partner for another signature move, their fist bump
"Pound it!" They both called out. The victim was de-akumatized, ladybug recognized him, this man had some into the bakery last week. Marinette was celebrating her 18th birthday and a man walked in looking to buy some cupcakes, she helped him out and when she mentioned it was her birthday he left a huge tip for her! Sometimes she wonders how people so kind can hide some of the deepest emotions. She said her goodbyes with chat and headed home, wondering how she would explain her injuries to her parents. She wasn't the most graceful girl outside of her superhero time, so maybe she could tell her parents in the chaos of the attack she tripped and fell down a couple flights of stairs. After arriving on her balcony and detransforming she collapsed from the pain, her shirt stained with blood and her eyes weary, luckily her parents heard her fall and rushed up the stairs to find their daughter broken down on the floor
"Please be ok Marinette" Tikki whispered to herself from the corner of the room.
