Alright, another vibe check, for this user at https://dappervolk.com/profile/46047 !

Vibe they give me:

An angelic creature who lives in a remote cottage in the woods, and tries to make everyone smile- granting their wishes, giving people things, and basically just being overly positive in general, hoping to become an angel and finally feel satisfied with his life. But after being given a mirror, something changed inside him.

Story:

Beau inhaled the fresh forest air, globules of light orbiting his head like planets do with a star. The warm glow of the sunlight made him look like a real angel instead of one similar to an angel, and he opened the window to look outside.

Another twenty people were waiting patiently for him to come out and grant their wishes. When  they saw him peering out, they clamoured for his attention, calling out his name.

He slammed the window shut and drew the blinds. This was just another day, he reasoned, another day of granting wishes and making everyone happy, another day of joy and smiles and...

Flinging open the door and handing out various items, Beau forced himself to smile and laugh every time someone made a joke about how weird he looked, how he was like some sort of angel, but too ugly for it.

Until someone pressed a cold mirror into his hands.

He was surprised, to say the least. Sliding it into his pocket, he waved everyone away and had them leave...then pulled it back out. The silver handle was cold to the touch, the mirror shining in the dimming sunlight.

But his reflection's eyes caught her attention.

He didn't look so ugly, did he?

Every taunt and insult from his visitors rushed back into his head. Ugly. Weak. Horrible. Buck-toothed. They were all lies... To bring me down and stop me from reaching my true potential. But...why?

Then he realised the answer.

~~

Five days later, people were crowding around his house again. They clamoured for him to come out, pounded on his door...but there was no response.

Nobody was home.

Slowly, the noise died down. People began to back away from his house, and left in murmuring groups, until only one little boy remained. He stood in the dying sun, and looked at the house. He was confused and a little sad, disappointed even.

That's when the door creaked open, and Beau peered out to smile at the child.

"What's your name, little kid?" The boy was taken aback, but answered, "My name is Gabriel, but I came to ask... if...you have any medicine...for my mother..anything would be highly appreciated! She's got this really bad fever and we've been waiting for so long and she keeps getting worse and I-"

Beau raised a finger. "Don't worry, give me a minute. For sticking around, I think you at least deserve a little acknowledgement, I'm sure of that." He ducked back into his house, then emerged holding a golden vial.

Pressing it into the child's hands, he pointed back to the path Gabriel had come from. "Go home now, and give this to your mother, it should make her feel better." The boy grinned, bowed, and started running down the path, whooping and cheering as he went.

Beau watched him go, then smiled to himself as he closed the door again.

They hadn't been constantly insulting what he looked like and mocking him because they thought he was below them, because they thought that he would never become an angel, so the insults didn't matter.

They had been trying to bring him down to show him that he was so beautiful on the inside, that he was already an angel- it didn't matter what he looked like any more, as long as he remained kind and calm.

And now that he knew that, he was finally satisfied.

(sorry the ending was a bit rushed!)
