(A/N: Hey guys! Sooooo so so sorry I haven't uploaded in the last 2 months! My life has been hectic recently, but I'm glad everything has calmed down now and I finally have time to get back to working on this story. To make up for the lost time, I have written a longer chapter for you guys. Enjoy!)
Sophie's POV:
"Hi, babe," I smile at Zach as I walk into our apartment.
"Hi, how was your evening out?"
"It was great! I felt over the moon seeing all my old friends again. We had such a fun time playing bowling, and then we went to a restaurant for dinner."
"I'm glad you're happy," he smiles.
"How did you handle dinner?"
"I actually invited one of my own friends and we had dinner together."
"Fair enough," I think to myself as I hum in response.
"Did you do some shopping as well? I see you are wearing a new jacket."
I look at myself and realize that I'm still wearing my old jacket that Julian gave back to me, making me involuntarily chuckle, but I quickly stop. Realizing that it's probably not the best idea to tell the truth at this time, (since Zach would ask even more questions and that would require a full backstory of my relationship with Julian), I decide to agree with his assumption.
"Yeah, we did just a little shopping together. Nothing much," I reply.
Wow, this is the first time that I'm lying to him. I've never done this before; I've always been honest with every guy that I've dated previously.
"How about tomorrow we spend some quality time together. Just you and me?" I propose.
"I would really like that," he says as a smile grows on his face.
"I would like it too. Let's go to sleep and then we can make a plan tomorrow."
"Sounds good." He gets up and hugs me as I smile. I hug him back, feeling hopeful. I really want to make this work with him.
Time skip: The next morning
Zach and I have a sweet morning together and get ready for our special lunch date. He's planned everything, so I have no idea what to expect; it's going to be a complete surprise.
The weather is nice and sunny, with a light zephyr. I keep my hair down and wear a long sleeve mini dress with a pretty light green and yellow flower pattern, along with white flats. He wears a simple blue shirt with khakis.
"Ready to go?" he asks.
"I sure am," I smile as we grab our things and leave the apartment.
He first takes me to a French restaurant called "Claudette", and I notice his kind manners as he opens the door for me at the front and pulls out my chair at the table we sit at.
"Thank you," I smile and say to him for each respective action.
We have a nice salad, along with a Cassoulet, completed with a Frangipane Tart for dessert.
"It's really nice that we're actually spending time with each other," I say honestly as we eat our dessert.
"I think so too. I really wanted this for us," he smiles back.
A part of me feels guilty because we haven't been like this with each other in a long time. I can't remember anything happy like this when I look back at the last couple of months. Our conversations back then were small, and rather awkward; I was always preoccupied with work, and that led to tension between the two of us. But I'm glad that it seems like he still believes our relationship is worth fighting for, and he's more than glad to take me out.
