The summer has finally passed and it had been hell.

No, really.

So horrible that it actually almost made me want to go back to school. Which is saying something, mind you. Being forced by my 'oh-so-lovely aunt and uncle' to work in a camp, being a councelor for ten year olds was a living hell. Kids just wound me up, making me want to rip all my hair out and run for the hills, always nagging and screaming their heads off to get your attention, aaaaahhhh.

I breathed a huge sigh of relief and opened the front door, lugging my heavy suitcase behind me. I had to catch a taxi from the airport, because my aunt and uncle had been to busy to come and fetch me.

Truthfully, I'd rather be sent to the north pole to work with santa and his elves than be stuck here with my aunt and uncle, fostering me.

But ya know. Life's a bitch.

I slowly lugged the ginormous bag upstairs to my bedroom, taking my time. I had nowhere else to be, nothing else to do, so why rush?

"Jamie! Is that you?" I heard my aunt yell up the stairs.

"No, it's a masked murderer. " I rolled my eyes. "Of course it's me. "

She stood in the doorway with hands on her hips, and narrowed her eyes. "Are you talking back to me?"

"Yes, Aunt Linda. That's how a conversation works. Oh, and nice to see you too." I smiled at her, of course a fake smile. Because really, what's there to smile about? And Damnit. I seriously didn't have a brain to mouth filter.

"Jamie williams. Quit being disrespectful and be thankful you have a roof to live under." She snapped and walked out of the room.

Ugh. She always brought that up. Be thankful bahblahblah. What am I being thankful for? That the only two people in the world I loved were killed in a car crash? Leaving me with my awful aunt and uncle? Damn her.

I wasn't going to go downstairs for dinner. I don't think I could stomach it. Whenever someone brought up my parents, I would lose my whole appetite.

The main thing I was focused on was school tomorrow. The first day of my junior year, and I was dreading it. Dreading the nicknames, the taunting, the beatings... you get the point. Although I was excited to see my best friend, Angie. My mood brightened at that thought, reminding me to text her. She had asked me to text her when I arrived, letting her know that I'd gotten in safely.

Just arrived. xx

I hit send and drop my phone on my bed, temporarily forgetting about the big suitcase I had to unpack and layed down, exhausted, drifting to sleep.

-The next morning-

My alarm clock decided it was time to sing the song of its people and scare me half to death. Why couldn't I get used to the damn thing?

I squinted my eyes and got up, heading towards the bathroom to take a shower. Looking in the mirror, I decided that I looked like I just came from the grave. My dark brown hair was all over the place and matted in some areas, and my blue eyes had dark rings around them, as if I hadn't slept for a month and my normally pink lips were chapped. I groaned and turned on the shower, getting in.
