The air was warm, yet a crisp breeze rippled through the air.
Charming could feel the nerves dancing along his skin, unable to keep still as he sat on the picnic blanket he had laid out in the Palace garden. He sat watching the the door with an eagerness, hopeful to see Max walk through it any minute and light up the room again like he had at the ball.
Wetting his lips as he began setting out his supplies. He had an almost feast of food from the kitchen, the tupperware set out over the picnic blanket that he had laid out carefully in the garden.
He had a jug if orange juice, plus a random array of what the chef had referred to as typical picnic foods, in addition to the chocolate strawberries that Max had requested.
He had also made sure to grab some small pillows to make it a bit More comfortable, in addition to a folded up blanket from his room incase the sun went in and it began to get cold. He wanted to make sure he had thought of everything, and as his eyes looked over everything again he nodddd to himself in satisfaction as he wiped his hands on the thighs of his pants.
He played slightly wth the fabric, looking around to see if there was any sign of Max showing.
Max lingered near the place that they had agreed to meet, hoping he was neither early or late. He was trying to brush off the slight nerves that he had festering in his stomach, it felt like this date, was building up to be really significant in defining what ever was to possibly come out of their 'interest' in one another.
That was when his eyes caught sight of Charming, the sunlight slightly illuminating his features. It was a gorgeous bright, sunlight that seemed to make the garden shine brightly, but not as brightly as Charming.
He looked at everything he was placing, not really moving from where he was standing and rather watching with an appreciative gaze at everything here. It felt almost too much, he was really going out of his way and that made his heart beat a slightly bit quicker.
That was when he broke the silence, his smile probably bright. "This looks absolutely beautiful, like everything has been planned out with such detail." he commented, tilting his head slightly and almost asking if that was exactly what he had done.
Charming turned his attention to him with a bright smile. He was right, the garden did almost seem to brighten and pop with even more colour when he walked into the room, especially since he had seemed to dress up a slightly bit more for their date which made Charming look at what he was wearing, and how it made him look even more handsome than usual, with an appreciative hum escaping from his lips.
"I have never done this before-" Charming said with an embarrassed blush on his cheek, rubbing the palm of his hand behind his neck.
"Done what?" He questioned, not really listening as he focused on the array of food displayed.
"Set up a date," he said quietly.
That caught Max's attention, he looked up to meet his gaze, a look of surprise and shock flickering over his features. "Wait-" his words seem to fail his, feeling almost breathless as he took I the realisation of the situation the fact that the Prince had set up a date, for him. "Wait, you did this?" He finally managed to ask.
"Yes...or well kind of," he rubed down the back of his neck nervously. "I asked the people in the kitchen to help and some maids to help with what to do, since I was so unsure of how you do things like picnics when it comes to dates. They found it quite amusing and a shock, but I think they like this side to me," he chuckled.
"I've never done this before and I'm about oblivious as how to do this type of thing, but I wanted to do this for you. Doing something like setting up a date makes me feel more normal I guess, and since everyone has always treated me like a Prince, for once it felt like the right time to perhaps do that to someone else."
He got up from his spot, moving towards Max and he grabbed his hand and brought it up to his mouth to place a soft kiss on his knuckles. "So from now on I will treat you as if you are Prince, as I hope one day you will do the honour of becoming my Prince, so I should get used to treating you as such," he said.
His heart almost soared at the words, my Prince sending shivers down his spine.
"Well, I am slightly surprised this wasn't completely set up by the maids and staff, but," he paused, looking into his eyes with an adoring gaze. "This is one of the sweetest and romantic things anybody has ever done for me and the fact it was by you, a Prince that had probably never had to do this type of thing before, makes me like you even more," he admitted.
"Oh," his eyes lit up, grabbing his hand almost like this was a completely natural thing to do that he did with no second thought. He pulled him towards the picnic blanket, pointing towards the chocolate covered strawberries as he turned to him with a wide grin. "I also got the chocolate covered strawberries that you requested."
That made Max's heart sore even more, seemingly let his heart take control as he found himself leaning to place a soft kiss on his cheek. He pulled away slightly shocked at his actions, a look that they Prince seemed to mimic as he brushed his fingers over the place he had kissed his cheek.
"What was that for?" He questioned.
"All this," Max returned, looking around again "Thank you."
"Of course, my Prince," he grinned. Max felt like that would be the one of many times he would hear that phrase and in that moment he was sure he never wanted to stop hearing it ever again. He was also sure that the feeling he got at the words would never fade, but he wouldn't complain...
