Katsuki's date with Kaminari was going to be Sunday. They were going to a café nearby. But that didn't matter at this moment, because right now, he was going to Aizawa's today. He was anxious, but in both a good and bad way. He was nervous, how would it go at Aizawa's? Katsuki was waiting for his teacher to finish collecting his things. The class had ended. He played with the paper Kaminari had given him, containing his phone number and the name of the café.
But he was worried, He'd never stayed away from his house for two weeks before only a few days or in the case these days, a week. Would she come find him? Would she send those men to get him and take him as their pay? He shivered, but a hand ruffled his hair, the smell of coffee coming with it. He relaxed.
"Done?" He smirked, "It's been an hour"
"Stop being dramatic, it's been ten minutes tops" His teacher responded, sounding as bored as ever.
"Dramatic?" He hid a grin, "You're calling me dramatic? I might die" He slumped down, slowly sliding out of his chair until his teacher sighed. He grinned, standing up.
"Let's go, Drama queen"
"I'm not a fuckin' drama queen" The added words of 'I'm a Purotekuta' almost slipped out. As he followed Aizawa through the halls and out the doors of the building, he couldn't help the smile on his face. They walked out the gate, nodding to the security guard. He didn't have to say it because a cute little 'purote!' sounded along with the pitter patter of shoes on the sidewalk, Aizawa stood there with his usual stoic face as Katsuki was hit by a flying hug, But Katsuki managed to glimpse the interest in the man's eyes.
"Purote! I didn't get to come see you this morning! I was home sick" Katsuki knew this kid wasn't sick. Her quirk stopped her from getting ill, burning right through anything before she knew she had it.
"Yeah, I'm coming to visit tomorrow" He glanced to Aizawa, "If that's okay" The man nodded
"I heard! Oh! here!" She pulled a daisy out from nowhere and held it out for him. He took it and tucked it behind his ear
"Thank you. You're eating enough, right?" she nodded happily, "Good otherwise I would've shoved shit down your throat" She giggled and hugged him again.
"I'll tell them you're coming for sure tomorrow, bye-bye Purote!" He waved, a smile on his face until she couldn't see him. He turned to his teacher whose face openly showed interest now. He explained, leaving out any graphic details, as they walked. As they neared what he figured to be the apartment building, Katsuki noticed how close his teacher lived to Yuuei. Convenient.
"I've gotta get groceries for next week, so here's the key, I'm on the second floor; Apartment Two-C. Anything you want specifically?"
Katsuki hesitated, taking the key and swallowing the spit that'd been pooling. It was the weekend tomorrow. He always got major urges on weekends. He shook his head, he didn't want to impose just because he couldn't control his eating habits.
Aizawa gave a firm nod, "I'll be back within half an hour. Don't open the door for anyone unless they knock six times.
"Two-C, Half an hour, six knocks" he repeated back to assure the man he understood the gist. Katsuki walked into the building and took the stairs to the second floor, the door was easy to find with the smell of coffee consuming the whole hall. He unlocked the door and stepped in, only to be assaulted by confused cats. He closed and locked the door before kneeling down. He held out a hand for the three to assess. He could faintly recall their names.
"Dark brown is Koko, Mikan is orange, and you're... Kiniro?" The cats all had different behaviors towards him. Mikan immediately sauntered away with Koko close behind. Kiniro was left, meowing at Katsuki.
He smiled, "I always wanted a cat. But Mom wouldn't let me. She didn't even want me. She didn't want a villain. Y'know?" He realized it was odd, here he was, spilling his thoughts to his teacher's cat like an idiot. But it was nice. The cat didn't know what he was saying.
"I ran away once" He admitted after a minute of silence, just sitting there petting the cat. "I hid in the woods behind the school and stayed there. I guess Mom told the school I was sick. I stayed there for the whole week. When I came back, Mom broke my foot. She wouldn't take me to the doctor either, so I still have no clue if it healed right" He rubbed the hairless cat's ears, making it purr happily. "I was really grumpy that week. but it was just because it hurt. I didn't tell anyone. I couldn't. She stopped feeding me in fifth grade. It was probably because I kept eating everything when she let me out of the bathroom. I didn't want to be a burden to the Kayama's, so I'd take Izuku's lunch. He would always cry and whine about it so I stopped after a few weeks" He took a deep breath, slowly releasing it. "Around that time, I was offered some sort of cigarette. I didn't know what it did. All I knew was that it would help me. And it did. It helped, until I was out of cash and craving. I stole from Mom once, but that ended badly. She didn't like losing money. She- She started renting me out for money. I got an allowance from that. But I've only ever used that money once" He could see the two creeping up but continued talking, and petting Kiniro.
"I- I bought" he huffed "I fucking bought my way into a gang. They said they'd help me. As long as I paid them the amount. 'Course I paid them. Every damn drop of cash I'd gotten, but people lie. They took me, used me for their fun and... And they..."He sniffled as Koko brushed against him, fur providing a comfort nothing else could at the moment. "They used me and marked me as theirs. In a way, they protected me. No one wanted to rent a little boy with the mark of the Jade Bats. I should thank them really, Mom lost her 'customers'. I only had to 'pay' them once" he had started petting Koko sometime while he was talking, so he now had a hand on each cat. Mikan was watching him from what seemed to be the kitchen doorway. He hadn't gotten to tour yet. Or really leave the main doorway area.
He paused his petting and used his sleeve to rub at his eyes. "I should leave the doorway" He laughed, though it sounded watery and sad. He stood slowly, picking up Koko and Kiniro, one per arm. As he walked around. Unshoed feet padded across the apartment, red 'demon' eyes taking in every detail he could. He glanced through doorways that were open until he reached the living room, Mikan was already on the couch so he carefully released Koko and Kiniro on the cushion. He finally slipped his backpack off and placed it next to the couch, Koko jumped down to investigate the odd bag. Katsuki sat on the couch and immediately Mikan, who'd avoided him so far, climbed in his lap. "I'm Katsuki, I'm gonna be staying here this weekend" He introduced to them. "I'll try not to bring to much bad luck"
Three knocks sounded from the doorway he'd come from. He jolted, slowly standing. He tiptoed to the door, years of experience making him silent on his feet. Katsuki looked through the peephole. It was an old lady, probably a neighbor. He didn't open the door, instead going back to the couch.
It was ten minutes later that the six knocks came, He went and opened the door. Aizawa stood holding a few bags of groceries, the old woman next to him both wore matching grins.
