The Shadow of the Insect

~Chapter Eight~

Four years have passed, and no one has seen him...until...

Shinobu became the Insect Hashira and has become notorious for her poison against demons. Kanao became the Tsuguko of Shinobu, she learned the Flower Breathing. To honor her sister, she wears her sister's Haori. She has in time drastically changed her appearance and character. She took over the character traits from her sister and is now only smiling... although she is still small, she has become more feminine and wears more make-up.

During the time when the Shadow Hashira was absent, a lot happened. Tomioka Giyuu the Water Hashira has protected a boy and his demonized sister. Shinobu had a mission with the man without friends and met the siblings. Kanao had the order to kill the demonized girl, but the demon didn't try to attack her. "She's not attacking me?" asked the flower girl.

Shinobu was now facing the Water Hashira and attacked him, which is why he protects them. The fight did not last long, Shinobu was held by Tomioka. "Ara, Tomioka. You know that what you do is against the rule. I forgot nobody likes you anyway." A blade came out of Shinobu's sandal that could have hurt him. But the crow stopped the fight. "KAHHHHH, I have a message from headquarters. Bring them Back! Bring them Back! Tanjiro, dressed in a checkered Haori, with a scar on his forehead! Nezuko, a demon girl with a bamboo muzzle! Bring them Back! Bring them Back!" and immediately the two stopped fighting and captured the girl and the boy.

The presence of the two siblings sparked a discussion about the Hashira. "He must be executed with his sister." cried the big man. Muichiro Tokito the Mist Hashira with just 14 years old is the youngest among them. As always, he was distracted and not following the conversation. The Flame Hashira replied with a loud voice "YES! We cannot allow that!" "We have to execute them flamboyantly! The blood will just splatter!" Sanemi the Wind Hashira came with the box around his shoulder in which the demon is sitting. He took out his sword and stabbed the box. Tanjiro, who was shocked to see his little sister getting injured, couldn't take it anymore. He freed himself without further ado and gave Sanemi a head butt before he further injured her. Sanemi fell over and was passed out. Everyone at the meeting was fascinated that Sanemi knelt so easily. Iguro Obanai the Serpent Hashira had Tanjiro under control again. Shinobu just watched. Ojakata then takes the stage and asked his children to listen. "My children, I'm glad you are doing well. We gathered here today to discuss what should happen to Tanjiro Kamado and his sister. We received a letter from Sakonji Urokodaki." The daughter of Ojakata read the letter and described the situation to the Hashira. Almost no one was in favor of the two-staying alive. "Tanjiro Kamado is one of the few who has seen Muzan Kibutsuji. He can collect some information and he also play an important role in his plan." They started another heated discussion until Ojakata put a finger in front of his mouth. "So, I ask you to accept him and his sister." Rengoku was the first to answer. "I'm sorry, but unfortunately I cannot agree!" Sanemi was just about to say something again when suddenly everyone stopped.

The Shadow has made its way into the Hashira meeting. He knelt briefly and greeted Ojakata and grabbed the box in which Nezuko is sitting from Sanemi. The other Hashira were amazed that Neltha had appeared in their eyes again for four years. He has hardly changed, only that he has become a little bigger and more muscular. He still looks dangerous. Shinobu saw the horrific scenes replay before her eyes as he stood in front of her.

Without batting an eye, he pulled his sword out of its scabbard and stabbed the box about five times. The other Hashira could only watch him stab. In the box you could hear the girl in pain. He didn't care because it was a demon. Tanjiro could only watch. He cried and begged the Shadow Hashira to stop. "PLEASE! LEAVE HER ALONE! SHE IS MY SISTER! I DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU, BUT DON'T KILL HER!" Ojakata ordered Neltha to stop immediately. 

He didn't listen, however, and carried on. He was in an ecstasy and could no longer hear his surroundings. Himejima, Rengoku and Uzui held him so that he would not do more harm. Nezuko's blood flowed towards Tanjiro. "Nezuko! Are you okay?!" it was quiet in the box. "Shadow Hashira, you heard. You should stop," said the Sound Hashira. Neltha calmed down again, sheathed his sword again. Sanemi didn't like the fact that Neltha had to stop. Sanemi apologized to Ojakata for intruding into his home. He threw the box into one and cut his arm and tried to lure her. It opened and Nezuko came out. She toyed with the idea of ​​trying something, but she was stronger and refused. She crawled back into her box. 

Sanemi looked perplexed, he had never seen a demon refusing to try his blood. The daughter told her father everything what was happening. "Urokodaki was right, she hasn't eaten a human in two years. That was the proof. So please again, accept the two of them as part of the Demon Slayer Corps." Shinobu couldn't believe it. There really were demons who could coexist with humans. She also wondered how the Shadow was doing, he was with her almost every day back then. When he was gone, she missed him a little. She was taken out of her mind again when Ojakata speaks again. "Can any of you Hashira take care of him and his sister? He has to rehabilitate properly first." Shinobu saw her chance. "I can take care of that. We still have places available. I'll take care of them."

The meeting was over and Shinobu instructed the Kakushi to take them to the Butterfly Estate. Neltha frowned, he couldn't kill a demon this time. The Insect Hashira saw how he was still standing there. She watched him for a while. He was smeared with blood again. "Apparently he's still fighting the style he did back then."

"Why are you staring at him like that?" asked the tall man Himejima. Shinobu was startled and looked for an excuse. "E-eh-ehm... I haven't seen him in years... like...?"
"If you want to talk to the Shadow Hashira, you can just speak to him. He won't harm you." She gave up. She couldn't lie to him, even though he was blind, he somehow saw everything. "I would like to speak to him. I just don't dare. You know what he almost did to me back then and he doesn't hang out with weak people like me." she said with a sad voice. "That can be, but don't judge anyone too hastily." She turned away and looked over at Neltha but he was gone.

When she got home, she was greeted by Kanao, Aoi and the three newest members Naho, Sumi and Kiyo. Shinobu thanked them and wanted to talk to Kanao alone. "Kanao... the Shadow Hashira Neltha is back." The message was unexpected. She was happy that the man who took over the role of her father is back. You couldn't see that she was happy. She just nodded. After talking to her, she went to see three injured people to see how they were doing.

After she was done with the three rascals, she could finally come to rest. Maybe this time it will be a good night after she knows he's back...
