Marinette sighed as she finished up her homework. She checked the time and scrambled to find a magazine. It was almost time to meet Chat Noir. Hurriedly she took her magazine up to the rooftop to enjoy the last little sunlight for reading.

"Marinette, how puurfect of you to join me!" Chat Noir exclaimed as his lady made it to her balcony.

"Silly kitty I live here." Marinette giggled as she put her magazine down. She was grateful to have moments like these. Between saving the world and chemistry homework, Marinette barely had any time for relaxation.

"I thought you were gonna join your friends at the movies? What happened to your plans ma princesse?" The feline teased. Noticing the slightest discontented sigh in her response.

"Ahhh Alya had too much homework, and Adrien's dad wouldn't let him go out again. So I guess that it's just you and me kitty cat," Marinette teased turning  to Chat Noir, "Unless, you've found someone better."

Chat Noir paused before smirking. He had never gotten the chance to see the playful side of Marinette at school. She always seemed so shy around him, and while endearing Chat Noir was grateful that his costume allowed his lady to come out of her shell.

"You know that no Parisian holds a candle to your purr-fection Marinette! Except for my dear partner Ladybug." Chat Noir asserted.

"Here we go again with Ladybug! Ladybug! Ladybug! Ladybug! Kitty has a crush!" Marinette teased.

"Not a crush dear, unrequited love!" Chat purred.

Marinette held onto this sentiment while Chat swept her off her feet carrying her princess style as he leapt from rooftop to rooftop. She knew Chat Noir as the jokester and terrible flirt- not this hopeless romantic. The change was nice, and even welcome to Marinette. Her partner was her most valuable asset- and she was certainly lucky to have him, cat puns and all.

"We're here." Chat Noir sighed. He sat his lady down on their picnic blanket and began lighting the assorted candles. Marinette took in the atmosphere of the scene. The setting sunset, fading into twilight, the ambient noise of a busy Parisian street, the smell of roses and bread- the calmness of it all brought her great peace.

"Chat Noir?" She asked the hero as he finished lighting the last of the candles.

"Oui mademoiselle?" He hummed as he sat beside her.

"You really do love her," Marinette sighed, still taking in the atmosphere around her.

"Yes but her heart belongs to another and mine is broken." Chat Noir sighed pulling Marinette in closer to him.

Although she was grateful that Chat could be his authentic self around her- hearing this struck a familiar chord. Marinette could not help but feel tears well up in her eyes. Quickly she wiped them away, swept her hair back and leaned in closer to Chat Noir.

He couldn't help himself from letting out a little purr. Her hair smelled like fresh baked bread. Chat Noir knew was lucky to have a friend like Marinette.
