“I’m a demigod!” He screamed at the top of his lungs, as he hovered over the hobo across the room that he had just smited. She hid in the corner scared to death. She knew what a demigod was capable of. He could smite her without blinking an eye. His beauty was astounding, but why wouldn’t he be gorgeous, he was in a way an angel, sent by God to fulfill some deed. What it was she didn’t know.

“Why are you here?” she asked in her scared voice that made her seem so much smaller than him. She couldn’t look at him. His beauty was too much. ‘Why does he have to be so gorgeous?’ She thought to herself

YOU DARE ASK A DEMIGOD A QUESTION?! WHO ARE YOU HUMAN?!” He turned around to face her and had to stop to catch his breath. To her he was gorgeous. He was immortal so of course he was gorgeous. She was human with the looks of an immortal ‘What is this?’ He thought to himself

“Me? I’m Brooklyn. Shouldn’t you know that?” She was getting more confidence now. “You’re a demigod. You said so already. Can’t you read minds?”

He scoffed. “Of course I can you silly mortal.”

She just rolled her eyes. “You gonna smite me or not bro?” She was getting irritated. He could tell, without reading her mind. She was starting to sound like a teenage girl and he was glad for it. Her foolishness distracted him from her beauty.

“I ain’t gonna smite you, bro” He said mocking her. Clearly getting tired of her attitude already.

She moved away from the corner. “Name?” She assumed he had him, being as he was one of God’s creatures and all.

“What’s it matter to you may I ask?”

“Nothing. Just thought it’d be nice, since you know mine.” She said.

“Well Mortal – he enunciated the word like it was a name – if you must know my name is Derek.”

‘I wish he’d stop acting all high and mighty’ She thought to herself for a second forgetting he can read minds.

“I wasn’t trying to act like that. I’m not really here on pleasure business. I’m here on work, as you already know since…” His sentence trailed off as he gestured to the once hobo behind him. He came down from there air and hid his wings. Like that he looked like a normal teenage boy.

‘He’s immortal, he’s not a teenager in real life’ Brooklyn thought, again forgetting he could read minds.

“Actually, I’m new to this. I just turned 21.” She looked up surprised.

“Stop doing that. It’s going to get you in trouble one day.”  There was a hint of anger in her voice.

“I can smite anyone I please so I doubt it will get me in any trouble, but I’m sorry.” He said sounding sincere.

“Fine.” She said. “Can I leave or are you going to smite me?”

He reveled his wings once more and flew off. As he went out of sight she heard in her head his voice. “I’m not here to smite you. Stay out of trouble Brooklyn. We’ll meet again soon.”

Brooklyn didn’t know what exactly he meant by that but it was getting late and she needed to get home so instead of thinking about what had just happened and what she just heard in her head she walked. She walked the eight blocks from the coffee shop she worked at to her house. When she got there she unlocked her front door, opened it, and turned the light on to her front room. She gasped at what she saw… Derek.
