Autumn's POV

Silence, is all that I hear.

I am lying on my bed looking through my bedroom window. There are a couple of street lights on the road, but otherwise it's complete darkness. In bed I spot my clock, it indicates 1:23AM. I just can't believe that this is my last day here, tomorrow I'll be getting on a bus from Pennsylvania to New York.

Waking up next morning I crawl out of bed, I walk into the bathroom and splash freezing cold water face to wake myself up. Looking into the mirror I look and feel like crap, as usual. I throw my hair up into a bun, put on a hoodie and sweat pants. I reach under my bed for my old sneakers and put them on. I grab old duffel bag in which I stuffed all of my clothes, which there really isn't much, and a couple of books.

I walk by my mom's room, I stand in the door frame, and simply look at her. She looks so miserable and exhausted. I walk up to her bed which is surrounded by bottles of beer and whatever she's been drinking.
I just can't help but be mad at her, she doesn't feel like a mother to me, after everybody has left the only thing she has been doing is getting drunk or sleeping all day. We barely even speak.

Sitting on the edge of her bed, I quietly whisper.

"Goodbye" into her ear, she slowly lifts her head up and responds to me.

"Good luck, I'll miss you" as soon as the words leave her mouth her face plops back on her pillow.

I then take my wallet and phone and walk out of the house closing the door behind me. I walk for about twenty minutes to the bus station.
When I get in I walk up to a lady sitting behind a counter, I hand her my ticket and she gives some paper in return, she shows me where to go and then calls up the next person in line.
I slowly walk up to station. and walk on, I show the driver the paper the lady gave me and he let's me have a seat, I take a seat in the back of the bus there wasn't many people there which was better for me. Before we leave says a couple of things including the fact that it's going to be a four hour drive, great, I take out my ear buds plug them into the phone and turn on some music. I stare out of the window as the bus leaves the station.

As we arrive, walking out of the bus I see a a lot of teens crying and hugging their families, it kind of makes me sad to think that I'll never have that. My eyes start to water so I quickly wipe the away and walk towards the building.

It is huge, New York University is marked on it in big letters and there's a big sign saying 'Welcome Students'.
I walk towards the admissions office and there is a long line toQ1q1à, wait.

When its finally my turn I walk up to the counter and say my name, they hand me my schedule, a bunch of papers, they give me my room number, keys, and other papers. I take a look written on the paper is my room number, Hall C : Room 209. I walk down the halls of the building passing Hall A, B and then arrive to Hall C, I walk down, looking at every door for room 209 and seconds later I find it.
I stuck the keys into the door lock and the door opened. I walked into the room, and saw a blonde girl sitting on a bed doing her nails. She looked up at me and said.

"Hi, I'm Lexi, as you might of guessed I'm your roommate" she calmly says. I can't exactly tell what type of person she is but the last thing I need is to deal with roommate issues.

"Hi, nice to meet you" I quietly say to her. She slightly smiles and goes back to painting her nails, I really hope she's nice. I throw my bag on my bed and take out my clothes and put them into my drawers. I hear the door shut and no longer see Lexi, so I assume that she left. I then just lie down and stare at the wall, I try to think.

I am an emotionless robot nothing more, nothing less...
