BHO CAMP #11: The Silent Rule

SYNOPSIS

For some, life is like a battlefield. Ruthless and unforgiving. For others, it's a less lethal but equally competitive play, full of unexpected challenges and its own set of struggles.

But if there's one thing they all have in common, it's the fact that everything in life is like a game. There are wins and losses. There are prizes and rewards.

Be it in school, at work, in family, in friendship, or in a romantic relationship... there is always a play. A game of strategy with a higher stake.

But most of all? There are always rules. Always.

With the two of us, there are simple ones. Obvious ones.

1. When the other seem to be in love, don't insult their partner or give your opinion about them. Except if you know they are making a big mistake and there is still time to change their mind. If this is the case, it is a cardinal rule to make sure that the other won't end up making decisions that they will definitely regret. (If one of you ends up getting the worst regret of your lives, the other should pay for the annulment fee or bail money)

2. Nyx Lawrence and Erebus Davis should never sleep together! NEVER!

3. This is the most important, and YOU know what THIS is. It's so cringe it shouldn't even be written! NEVER EVER! HIGHEST PRIORITY!

Three rules that are easy to follow. Easy to remember. We lived by it that it came so naturally for us.

But one move changed everything.

One moment, we are who we always have been. Two people that grew up together who had no choice but to be friends because whether we like it or not, we know a lot about each other, and we would always be in each other's lives. Two people who sometimes want to strangle each other, especially when we know one of us is doing stupid shit.

And at the next second... there was this. A misstep. A violation of the game. A decision to breach the rules that I could never take back.

Out of all the rules, I chose to break the most important one. The third one we can't even write, let alone put into words.

I fell in love.

It was unthinkable, a funny twist of fate. There was never a time that I thought about him that way. He's the one person I don't want to have... someone who I shouldn't have.

Because in this grand play of our lives, there's a zone I shouldn't have crossed... and there's a silent rule that shouldn't have been broken.
