“Mrs. Jean, can you solve the equation on the board?” My attention snapped back up to the board and I looked at the equation, I knew I wouldn’t be able to solve it as quickly as she wanted me to although I could.
“I can, it’s just a matter of whether or not you’re willing to wait for me to solve it.” I replied, sending her a sweet smile. She pursed her lips and looked past me.
“Miranda, have you solved the equation on the board?” She questioned on behind me. Miranda squeaked out a yes and continued to answer and explain how she got her answers. I rolled my eyes and looked at the equation on the board before glancing at my notebook again. My phone buzzed in my back pocket and I shifted around to grab it and open the message.
To: Regan
From: Trent
Meet me by our lockets immediately.
I placed my phone back in my pocket and raised my hand. She looked at me and sighed.
“Yes Regan?” She asked, turning away from me.
“May I go to the bathroom?” I asked sweetly. She nodded and I stood, exiting the room and turning left to head towards my locker. I passed some other wandering students and finally made it to my locker where Trent was pacing in front of them. I approached him and his blue eyes connected with mine and he sighed rushing over to meet me.
“What’s up?” I questioned, raising an eyebrow and popping a hip.
“Louis was asking me about you and Noah and what was up about that and what happened and if you were ready for a relationship and he wouldn’t stop asking and he was asking my opinion if you would go on a date with him and I didn’t know what to say to him I mean he’s a friend of mine so I said yes and he’s planning on asking you out soon.” He rushed out his mouth clamping shut and he crossed his arms leaning against the lockers, bringing him closer to even with me. I stood and stared at him.
“You told him yes?” I screeched, throwing my hands up and marching up to him so I was inches from him and glaring up at him.
“Uh, I didn’t know what else to say! I didn’t want to hurt his feelings and I figured it wouldn’t kill you to go on one date with him!” He tried reasoning. I huffed and spun around, pacing back and forth.
“Okay, it’s one thing you said I’d go on a date again but it’s a whole new thing for the fact that Louis is Noah’s goddamn cousin. What am I going to do! I mean I’m basically the reason Noah is gone now and I mean if I ever met his family again they’d all hate me and think that I was out to off another one!” I ranted, pacing back and forth glancing up at him every once in a while in a panic. He moved towards me and stopped me grabbing my hands in his.
“Okay start by calming down,” He reasoned, looking into my eyes and bringing our hands up. I closed my eyes and took a breath in an exhaled. “Now, the fact you’re even thinking of meeting his family again means you’re willing to even going on this date right?” He concluded. I looked down and shook my head.
“I think I’m just considering saying yes because he could act like Noah in maybe some ways.” I muttered, looking at the ground.
“Oh.” He breathed out. He dropped my hands and moved away.
“Listen, I’ll still go out with him and see where it goes from there, okay?” I concluded, looking up at him with a small smile. His lips curved upward, he nodded in agreement and I moved forward to wrap my arms around his torso. He wrapped his arms over my shoulders.
