The protagonist of this story is Mazie Mackintosh,a sixteen-year-old girl who happens to be a mystery aficionado and is a magnet for all kinds of matters cryptic and unsolved.She's also the brainiac of the family.She has short brown hair and wears round glasses and likes to refer to herself as a "teen detective" along the likes of Nancy Drew,who also happens to be her inspiration and her major source of detective sense and knowledge.She lives in Boulder with her family,comprising her mom and dad,Mr. and Mrs.Mackintosh and her sister,Mia,who's the exact opposite of Mazie,in all aspects.Mia is eighteen years old and has long blonde hair and is a total beauty freak and is also a connoisseur,but in beauty and fashion.She is,as one would say,the "stereotypical blonde",who,alas,lacks a functional brain.
