Miracles Season 5: Health First Part 1 (Dawsey)

Chapter 647

Antonio's POV: As I sat at my desk, I looked up at Sgt. Voigt, hoping to get some answers. That's when he looked at me. "Erin and Jay are both out for a while. Erin is working from home because of the pregnancy and Jay is out with the rangers." I looked at him, confused. "The rangers?" Voigt sighed. "He's now working with the US Army Corps of Engineers. They're transforming McCormick Place into a new hospital."

I looked at him and got nervous. "He going to be working there?" Voigt nodded. "Yes, so Erin is at home to protect her and the baby from COVID. Jay is already going to be going to and from the place. However, he is on leave from CPD until he is done working there." I was shocked. "So, are we getting someone new?" Voigt shook his head. "Unless you can convince Sylvie to help us? However, she needs to be trained virtually."

I nodded and agreed. "I'll talk to her tonight. However, I need to make sure she isn't stressed. Also, I need to figure out what I'm going to do with my kids. I can't have them potentially bringing the virus into the house on a daily basis with Sylvie being pregnant." Voigt nodded. "I am just glad that Jay and Erin don't have kids yet." That's when I heard Jay walk in. "Actually, about that Voigt." We turned to look at him. "What you doing here?"

Jay sighed and then grabbed the keys to his truck. "I need to give these back temporarily. I am going to be volunteering with the military for a while. I am also here to get a laptop for Erin to work from home and I am also here to let you know that Erin needs to keep her stress down." Voigt nodded and agreed. "Her OB/GYN has ended all in-person non-emergency appointments. So, we need to get her stress low. Also, I need to stay safe." 

Voigt nodded and sighed. "So, how long am I handing you over to the Army Corps of Engineers?" Jay sighed. "At least 2 weeks. 1 for setup, 1 for operations. Then, I have to reassess. However, I need to put Erin first. If there's any way I can work from home too? I mean, we're intelligence." Voigt nodded and agreed. "We'll try our best to allow all officers in Intelligence to work from home. Erin however stays home permanently." 

Jay nodded. "Good, because I'm also watching my nephew. Well...soon to be nephew, Owen Manning. His mom is at Med right now." That's when Jay heard his phone ring. "Actually, it's her. Excuse me." Jay then walked away to talk to Natalie.
