Amora POV

"Amora! Amora! Amor-" I heard a thump and I whipped around quickly to see my sister face first in the cobblestone street. Quickly, I ran back over to her and helped pick her up.

"Valerie, are you okay?" I tried not to let my worried voice seep through. Instead of an answer, I just heard laughing.

"You- your face was hilarious!" she said in-between laughs. Instead of being angry, which I hardly ever am, I joined in laughing.

The clock chimed signaling it was now six pm, dinner time. I wiped some dirt off of Valerie's face and held her hand tightly as we walked back home.

Paris has always been lovely. The lights, the food, the music, and especially the Eiffel tower. It's always been my home and where I plan to stay forever. Even though I'm only 11, I know that I never want to leave my family.

——

"Beauxbatons?" my father's voice sounded puzzled.

I was up against the door with my sister, trying to hear anything we possibly could through the door. It was awfully muffled but I could make out a few sentences.

"yes, your daughter is a witch." Said a stranger.

I turned to Valerie wide eyed, she looked the same way.

"c'est impossible!" my mother shrieked. She sounded more worried than angry.

After what felt like an eternity, the door finally opened to reveal my father and mother. They asked Valerie to leave the room and she did.

They sat me down and started to explain how i'm a witch of muggle descent. I have to leave and go to a school of the name "Beauxbatons" to learn magic.

Once the day came I begged my parents to let me stay. I didn't want to go to a strange school with nobody I knew. I've always had a hard time making friends so I relied on my sister. She may be four years younger, but she's always there for me.

The woman from the other night came and I started to cry my eyes out.

"Mommy! Mommy please!" I wailed. "I don't want to go! Mommy!"

"i'm sorry sweetheart." She said sympathetically.

I looked to my father and he, along with my mother, looked like he was also holding back tears. My sister ran up and gave me a big hug.

"I will miss you Amora." Her sparkling eyes looked at me, holding the most sadness in the world. It made me want to break into a million pieces and never want to get fixed again.

We all gathered up and gave a long hug.

"Je t'aime mon amour, Amora." my mother whispered in my ear.

I waved goodbye and followed the woman. In the light blue carriage, I met another girl by the name of Ophelia. She was pretty and had blonde hair like mine, just less frizzy.

"You should put your hair in a bun. It's a bit all over the place." She said in a judgemental tone.

"oh- right." I took a hair tie and tied it up as best I could. Was my hair really that bad?

The school was beautiful. Statues, marble floors, beautiful corridors, but not lots of lovely people.

On my third day I was minding my own business like usual until a group of girls started making fun of me. That's when the girl from the carriage stepped in and told them off. When I thanked her, she did nothing more than nod and walk away. From that point forward I decided to stay near her, she was there to protect me. Sometimes she said some rude comments, and wasn't very nice to everyone, she always had my back...until she didn't.

Fifth year, Ophelia came barging towards me, her perfectly straight hair falling behind her.

"Amora! You- you filthy backstabbing-" she started, her voice raised immediately.

I quickly turned around and looked at her puzzled.

"You ruined everything!" She said accusing me. Tears began to collect in my eyes, making it difficult to see.

"Ophelia, what are you talking about-" I managed to get out, trying not to burst into tears.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about! I know what's been going on with you and Elliot!"

Holding back all the emotions I had, I took a deep breath and started. "Ophelia.."

"Enough!" she said cutting me off. "I don't want to listen to you spitting lies out of the same mouth you used to seduce Elliot!" With that, she took her wand out and pointed it at me. I could feel the eyes of students around us burning into my skin. Elliot stopped her before she could do anything serious and she stormed out.

I sat there and felt the world crashing around me. She was my only friend for five years. What was I going to do now? A few days later, I was told she left to go to a different school. I felt terrible, I wasn't guilty of anything, but I still felt like it was my fault. Was I in the wrong?
