Chapter 2:

I laughed as I balanced on the rock, afraid to fall into the lake. I found this nice spot when I was looking for some peace and quiet. Crouching down, I peered into the water, looking for frogs and different kinds of fish. I looked to my right and noticed a butterfly flying near me. It landed on my finger and I observed it carefully.

The bugs had been my only friends since Ophelia left. They always listen to me and obviously, can't say anything rude. I've always found them fascinating.

"Hello butterfly, how are you today?" I asked, not expecting an answer.

I noticed the blue butterfly fly away when a group of chatter emerged from behind the bushes. I stood up quickly and noticed it was a group of students from the school. They must have followed me out here.

I know that the students here don't like me very much. They often mess with me by mocking me or breaking things I love, like my rings. Once they even put spiders in my shoes.

"The freak is talking to bugs now." One of the girls said laughing. They walked over and onto the rocks.

"B-be careful, you might fall!" I said concerned.

"Oh i'm not worried about that, but I would be if I were you." A brunette girl mocked.

"wha-" before I could even comprehend what's happening, my body was in the lake. I started to panic since I've never known how to swim. There's no lakes near Paris.

My heart starts racing and I'm slowly running out of air. I kick my legs as fast as I can and attempt to swim up. I reach the surface and tread the water, flailing my arms around, trying to keep myself up. I try calling for help but my lungs fill up with water. The laughter from the girls only becomes louder and with all my might, I manage to get out of the water.

I collapse and sit on the grass sobbing. I looked up and noticed the girls ran off.

——

"Amora, you can't stay here forever." My father says in a loving but worried tone.

I take another bite of my pancake and continue talking.

"Father, i'm not going back there. The girls hate me!"

"How could they hate you?" Valerie, now eleven says.

I turn to her and smile.

"Well, you don't have to worry about a new school!" My mother said, awfully cheerful.

The letter in her hands that read "Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" was ripped open.

"I got in?!" I asked, in awe.

"yes!" My mother praised. The room erupted in cheers and giggles.

Hogwarts. The famous school where Harry Potter, the boy who lived, goes to! I've heard students talking about him.

——

"Wait, Amora dont leave please. Take me with you. I'm eleven now! I can go!" Valerie cried, following me around my room.

I stopped and turned toward her, trying to keep it together. I don't want to let her see me cry.

"please." she said again.

"I'm so sorry, Valerie. I have to go. I'll be back, and i'll send you many letters. It's going to be just like I'm at Beauxbatons."

She nodded and ran into my arms. I hugged her for a while as she cried. She looked back up at me again.

"if you get a boyfriend, i better approve." I let out a laugh.

Yeah, like that's gonna happen.

Once I finished packing, I said goodbye to my family and set off to the train station in London.

Hogwarts, how bad can it be.
