Chapter 29. Revenge Part 2

Zachariel's P.O.V

Zavier was still asleep by the time I arrived at his house. I made a cup of coffee then waited for him to wake up. My phone rang the moment I took a seat at the kitchen table. I smiled when I saw the caller I.D. I instantly answered the phone with, "Good morning, Alexei. Did you miss me already?" Alexei groaned then asked me, "Couldn't you wait to see Zavier after work, Zachariel? The kids wanted to have breakfast with you." I chuckled while thinking about the kids. "Dominique must be pouting right now," I thought to myself while finishing my coffee.

I sighed then uttered, "I'll call the kids later in the day, Alexei. I discovered something about Zavier last night that didn't sit well with me. I wanted to discuss this matter with Zavier before things got out of hand." Alexei pondered for a bit, then asked me, "What did you find out about him, Zachariel?" I checked if Zavier was awake, then answered Alexei with, "I discovered that Zavier has been in contact with Andrew all along. He has been sharing information about my progress with him." Alexei slammed his fist on his desk in anger, then roared, "How dare he betray you?" I got startled by Alexei's outburst. I tried to control the situation by saying, "Calm down, Alexei. We don't know the whole story yet. Zavier might have done this out of goodwill. Andrew was also his friend."

I knew that I was spouting nonsense, but I had to do something before Alexei sent his men to get rid of Zavier. Alexei groaned, then uttered, "You have to draw the line somewhere, Zachariel. People will keep taking advantage of you if you don't take action. You are my other half. I don't want people to think that they can trample over you to get what they want." I chuckled then stated, "It's nice to hear you call me your other half, Alexei." Alexei snickered, then asked me, "Is that the only thing that struck you, Zachariel?" I instantly replied to Alexei with, "Yes, Alexei. You can't imagine how happy you have made me by accepting me as I am. It may look like I'm a kind-hearted person, but as you already know. I have a dangerous side to me too. Have no fear, Alexei. I won't let Zavier walk all over me anymore. His life of leisure is over."

Zavier walked out of his room the moment I uttered those words. I quickly said to Alexei, "I'll call you later, sir," then cut off the phone. Zavier looked in surprise at me, then asked me, "Did you spend the night here, Zach?" I shook my head, then responded to Zavier with, "No, Zavier. I've just returned home. I didn't want to travel at night, so I stayed at my friend's house till this morning." Zavier walked to the counter, then poured a cup of coffee for himself. He then asked me while taking a seat next to me, "May I know who this mysterious friend of yours is, Zach?" Zavier almost choked on his coffee when he heard me respond to him with, "The one who I have been spending a lot of time recently with is Alexei Marquis, Zavier." I grabbed a napkin, then handed it to Zavier.

I chuckled when I saw Zavier tremble in fear. Zavier wiped his mouth clean, then asked me, "How long have you guys been close, Zach?" I stroked my chin while pondering, then answered Zavier with, "For a month and a half now, I think." Zavier looked in anger at me, then uttered, "Do you mean to tell me that you lied to me when I asked you about your relationship with Alexei, Zach?" I shook my head, then stated, "That's rich coming from you, Zavier. Weren't you the one who lied to Alexei about the incident that happened across the restaurant? Was it fun pretending to be me?" Zavier's eyes widened in shock. He groaned then asked me, "He told you about it, Zach?" I folded my hands together, then answered Zavier with, "Alexei didn't need to tell me anything, Zavier. I knew that something was up when he stayed in contact with you. It didn't take me long to figure out the truth."

Zavier smirked at me, then asked me, "Alexei managed to make you fall in love with him, didn't he, Zach?" I frowned at Zavier, then asked him, "What do you mean, Zavier." Zavier crossed his arms over his chest, then gazed at me. I clenched my fists when Zavier shook his head at me. Zavier made me feel like an emotional fool, and I didn't even know why he was doing it. Zavier chuckled after a while, then uttered, "Alexei and I made a bet a few weeks ago. I told him that you had closed off your heart and that he didn't have a chance with you. He told me that he would do everything in his power to woo you. It looks like that bastard has won you over, Zach. You fell into his trap without realizing it. I never knew that you were this easy. He only said a few nice words to you, and you went gaga over him."
