The sun was pouring through the clouds waking any creature in it's ray of light. Birds were chirping harmoniously and I was yawning over all of it. I started my morning as I usually would; I dragged myself out of my canopy bed and pulled on my tunic, heading for the door. As I closed my eyes to breathe in the smell of freshly baked pastries, I turned my head to see a rather small guard stood beside my door. He bowed down to me and started to stutter out his words.

"m-master George, t-the king has r-requested y-you meet with y-your new p-personal k-knight at e-exactly  ten a-a.m."

"Thank you for the message. Now off with you." Personal knight? I didn't need a knight! This is absurd; I know how to take care of myself. Like some knight is going to change that.

I took my morning bun from the bakery and headed towards the gardens. The gardens were always my favourite place. I used to run around for hours on end; unfortunately, however, she passed away during the war. I could never forget the smile wiped across her face when she watched me use my wooden sword to fight off vines. I went there for the memories, but also for the roses. They were the only flower that stayed alive all year round. Father used to them to mother and I always pretended to vomit when they kissed on occasion. Now I gave the the village children roses every Saturday as they always seem to carry love around the village.

I'd spent so much time picking roses I'd completely forgotten about the meeting with this 'new knight'. I had a couple of minutes still to rush to the courtroom. Unluckily for me, it was on the other side of the palace. I hurdled over hay bales and slid under tables, pushing past slaves, finally finding myself at the large oak wood doors. I pulled them open to see my father sat at his thrown making small talk with a blonde haired knight with green eyes.

"My boy!" my father shouted across the room.

"Father." I bowed my head at him greeting him as formally as possible.

"This is the knight I have assigned to watch over you from now on."

"As 'delightful' as that seems father, I'd much rather not have some weakling follow me around."

"Oh my boy he is our strongest and most agile knight of all."

"If he's so perfect show me one of your skills knight boy." I said rolling my eyes. An arrow shot right into the cherry on the bun I was holding. I could feel my skin go as pale as a ghost. Maybe he wasn't such a weakling after all.
