Dewey's POV:
"Just ask her already!" yelled Louie. The dance is coming up, and I really want to ask Webby if she'll go with me. That sounded easier a few days ago, but the dance is in a few days and I still haven't mustered up the courage to ask her yet. What if she rejects me? If she does, will it make our friendship weird? Webby's friendship means a lot to me, and I don't want to mess up.
"It's not that easy Louie." I said. "If it goes wrong, and Webby rejects me, it could ruin our friendship!"
"Dewey, you don't know for sure if she'll reject you. You've had a crush on her for 2 years now, it's best just to admit your feelings." Huey said with a smile.
"Not to mention you both have friendship bracelets and the other half of each others locket. You two clearly really like each other, go for it!" Louie said encouragingly. I pulled my locket out from under my shirt and opened it. It had a picture of Webby inside. Webby's half of the locket had a picture of me inside. We update the pictures every year so we're not stuck with a picture from when we were 11. I sighed.
"I guess you guys are right. Huey, where did you ask Violet?" I asked.
"I asked her at the library." he said. Louie snorted. "Hey. It may sound like a lame place to you guys, but we both enjoy being there, and we go there together all the time. Dewey, you should bring Webby to a place you both enjoy being at together."
"Well.. there is this one place. It's out in the forest near a lake. We like to climb trees and have picnics there. It's kind of like our special place, but we haven't been there in a while." I said. I smiled when I thought of the times we'd go there together. We'd hang upside down from a tree and see who could stay upside down the longest. Webby always won. I thought of when we would sit by the river and have a picnic that consisted of hamburgers and pep. Hamburgers are Webby's favorite food.
"That sounds like a perfect place to ask her." said Huey.
"Great! I think she's hanging out with Lena and Violet today, so I'll ask her tomorrow." I sounded confident, but really I was shaking on the inside.

Webby's POV:
I was hanging out at Lena and Violet's house today. I could say I was there just to have fun, but I was really there to get some relationship advice from Violet. You see, there's a high school dance coming up, and I really want to go with Dewey. Huey had recently asked Violet to go to the dance. I knew Violet liked him, and she's lucky he liked her back. I'm worried if Dewey likes me back, or if he even notices I like him.
"So Violet, when and where did Huey ask you out." I asked the purple hummingbird.
"He asked me out at the library yesterday. He was a stuttering mess but finally he was able to spit out, 'Do you want to go to the dance with me?' And of course I said yes. Hubert gets me and I get him. We are both junior woodchucks too." She said smiling. I sighed sadly.
"Something wrong Pink?" Lena asked, concerned.
"No, nothing's wrong. I'm happy for you Violet, I really am. But, I just wish Dewey would ask me out already. I'm starting to think he doesn't like me the way I like him." My shoulders slumped. Lena and Violet exchanged a look.
"Pink, I'm sure Dewey likes you that way." Lena said, putting her hand on my shoulder. "Maybe he's taking so long because he's nervous."
"Maybe.." I said. I wasn't convinced. I stared at my friendship bracelet. Well, me and Dewey's friendship bracelet. I had about 5 now, one with Lena, one with Violet, one with Huey, one with Louie, and one with Dewey. I sighed again.
"Hey Pink, why don't you come with me and Violet and we can go have some fun?" Lena said. I perked up a bit. Having fun with Lena and Violet was the best.
"Alright, but I choose where we're going!" I said happily. I wrapped my arms around them. I was feeling a little better already.

Afternoon Of The Next Day
Webby's POV:
I was in my room researching different kinds of magic when I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in!" I said. Dewey came strolling in. He looked a bit nervous.
"H-hey Webby!" he said. He looked a bit uncomfortable.
"Hi Dewey! Everything okay?" I asked.
"Oh yerp! Of course!"
"Okay... well is there anything you need?" I asked. I had a weird feeling that something was up with him.
"Oh no, no nothing." he said. "I was actually wondering if you'd want to go out to our special spot in the forest." Special spot in the forest? Oh! I remember that place. We used to hang from trees and have picnics there. It was so much fun!
"Sure, I'd love to!" I said enthusiastically.
"G-great!" he stuttered. Dewey never sounds that nervous. Something is up.

The Special Spot
Dewey's POV:
Finally, we made it! After two hours of walking, we finally made it to the lake.
"Oh Dewey!" Webby gasped suddenly. "We didn't bring a picnic basket!"
"We don't need one." I said. "I just thought we'd hang around here and have some fun, like old times y'know?"
"Oh, well okay! I'm going to go relax by the lake, that walk was tiring." she said cheerfully.
"I'll be right with you." I said. I snuck off to find a pretty flower for Webby. After about 15 minutes I found it. A bright pink tulip just sitting there. I plucked it from it's place and returned back to Webby. She was sitting by the lake, her hair was flowing in the wind. She looked really pretty. I breathed in. Alright, this is your chance, DO NOT mess up. I told myself. I walked over to her and sat down next to her.
"Webby.." I said nervously. "C-can I ask you something?"
"Of course, anything!" she said with a smile. I was blushing. I could feel my face burning up. I wonder if she could notice.
"Webbigail, you've been my best friend for 6 years, a-and I just wanted to say, I really like you. No, I love you." I handed her the tulip. She gasped, blushing.
"Webby, there's this dance at the high school in two days, and I was wondering if y-you'd like to go with me?" I said nervously. She looked shocked for a moment. Then a big smile spread across her face.
"Oh Dewey!" she said, hugging me. "I'd love to go with you! And, I love you too." She pulled away and looked at me. We were so close. Then, she kissed me. Or maybe I kissed her. I couldn't tell. All I could tell is that we were kissing. I had confessed to Webby, and in some ways she confessed to me. The hardest part, was over.
