(Hey y'all, this is my first x reader oneshot, so go easy on the criticism)
-3rd person POV-

You've been serving in the army for almost 2 months and you've already befriended half of the recruits. The person who you enjoyed being with the most is Steve, he's sweet, gentle, sort of a jerk sometimes, but in a good way! You adored everything about him, but you wondered if he did the same.

-Reader's POV-

  Alright, today's the day.

  I'm going to confess.

I know, I know, it sounds insane, it's only been about a month and a half, but he truly is perfect to me! His laugh is unbearable, it always makes me laugh harder, his smile is charming, almost hypnotic, his bravery, his honesty, his everything. Everything about him..when it comes to his cons, there are none, unless you count falling head over heals for him.

As I walked over to the pub where we first met, I noticed that the place is more empty than usual. Is it the time? Was there something going on? I did notice Steve was there, so I decided to go in, I mean, I had planned to go there, I told him to meet me there.

As soon as I entered the place, I saw him sitting at the opposite side of the pub. There were a few people here, but just some hungover drunks. When he noticed the door open, he immediately looked over, his face lighting up, and had waved to me. I waved back as any other person would, and swiftly walked over to the same table and sat myself down.

"What took you so long?" Steve asked, "Watchin' guys suck each other's dicks or somethin'?" "The hell? No, I was getting caught up by myself, it's nothing serious or stupid,"  I responded, chuckling afterwards. "Heh, sure, we'll go with that explaination. Anyways, I'm kinda wondering..why did you ask me to come here?" He asked.

"Well...I was about to tell you," I said nervously, "So, we've known each other for like, a month, right? And well, uh.." I felt like I didn't have the balls to say it, whether I did or not. I continued to tell him anyways, just wanting to get it out of my system, "Well, I've been..feeling like I..don't see you as a friend,"

He looked confused and betrayed, like I meant it that we're enemies, "(Name), Wh-...what do you mean by this..?" He said in a shaken tone, I couldn't bare to see him like this, so I had to hurry up with what I was saying before he bailed out on me. "What I mean by this is that I see you more than a friend. I see you as a soulmate, I see you as the only thing that can make me happy in any situation, I see you as the light of a dark hallway, I see you as..potentially, my partner."

  ...

He showed no emotion, presumably trying to comprehend what he just heard. As soon as he realized what I said, he became ecstatic with emotion. "Y-You really mean that..that you love me??" He asked, bewildered by my words, "Yes, I do. I love you, Steve."

He sat there, holding his head in his hands, sobbing, refusing but wanting to believe me, "This..this can't be real, there's no fuckin' way in hell you'd love me! I'm annoying and stupid, and I'm too fucking fragile for my own good!"

What I heard broke my heart. Was he really told these things by other people? If so, then who? "Steve, do you really believe that shit?" I asked, stunned, "Yes, because it's true! I'm always so talkative, and I go on and on and on for hours, I'm surprised you haven't left me yet!"

"I'd never leave you, you're too perfect for me to do that." He stopped for a moment, looking at me like I'm crazy. "...You really..you really think so?" He asked, "Why wouldn't I? You're really funny, you're enthusiastic and energetic, but in a good way! You're a shit load braver than I am, and you don't realize it."

He sat there, amazement on his face for knowing how positively I think about him. I got up from my seat and walked to the other side of the table to where he was, bending over and gently kissed him. I pulled back not long after, saying, "To me, you're perfection."
