Riley had never attended a traditional hunters funeral before and she never wanted to attend one again. She stood between Sam and Dean, staring into the flames that consumed John's body. She wished she'd got to know him better and that she hadn't been so quick to judge him. But most of all, she wished she had never made that damned promise to keep the truth from Sam and Dean. She heard Sam sniff beside her and laced her fingers through his. She glanced at Dean and the broken look in his eyes tugged at her heart. She slid her hand into his, lacing their fingers together. Dean looked down at her and she squeezed his hand. After a few minutes, they all separated and Sam turned to face them.

"This doesn't make sense. How could he do this to us?" Sam said.

"I don't know." Dean shook his head.

"Did he say anything to you?" Sam asked Dean.

Dean stared at John's burning body and swallowed hard. "No."

Guilt flooded through Riley. Not only was she hiding something from both of them, but now Dean was lying to Sam too.

"Let's go." Dean said, turning and walking away.

One week later.

Riley sat on the steps of Bobby's porch, watching Dean fix up the impala. He'd been working on the car for a week solid, making slow but steady progress repairing it. Riley knew the car was important to Dean, but she couldn't help but think the reason he spent so much time with it, was to avoid Sam's questions. Sam had constantly been asking Dean if he was okay, and Dean was starting to get frustrated with it. Today was no different and Sam walked up to Dean.

"You doing okay?" Sam asked.

Dean dropped the wrench in his hand and sighed. "For the thousandth time, I'm fine."

"You know I'm surprised you haven't shown any interest in hunting the demon." Sam raised a brow at him.

"Can't hunt something if you don't know where it is, Sammy." Dean said, picking up another tool. "Besides, in case you've forgotten, we lost the only leverage we had on him."

"That's never stopped us before." Sam shook his head.

"This is different." Dean said. "We have no leads and no way of killing him anymore."

Riley looked down at her hands. She knew exactly where it was.

"Well I found something that might help." Sam said.

This captured Riley's attention and she walked over to the boys. Sam pulled out an old phone and Dean asked him why he had their father's phone.

"Just listen." Sam said, holding out the phone.

Dean took the phone and held it to his ear. Riley watched curiously and Dean handed back the phone.

"That's from four months ago." Sam said.

"Well then, let's go pay her a visit." Dean said seriously.

Sam traced the number and found an address. Riley didn't ask questions, she simply followed Sam and Dean into an old van they had borrowed from Bobby. Riley worried that the minivan was going to fall apart but luckily, it got them to their destination. They pulled up to what looked like an abandoned roadhouse. Riley recognised it instantly.

"No way." Riley gasped.

"What?" Sam asked looking at her.

But Riley didn't answer. Instead she raced forward towards the building. Sam and Dean ran after her, calling her name. Riley pushed the doors open, looking around the deserted bar. She saw some guy passed out on the pool table but couldn't see his face. Sam and Dean caught up to her and Riley was spun around, finding herself face to face with a furious looking Dean.
