Growing up, religion was never really big in our household. We never went to church on those Sunday mornings, which i always found weird considering i was baptized as Catholic, and the only times I did go were out of respect for a friend who's house I happened to be staying the night at. You see my mother insisted on us, my siblings and I, having the choice to believe in whoever and whatever we wanted to believe in. One afternoon, I was at my mothers for our usual coffee and catching up, and it occurred to me that to that day I never really knew what my own mother, the single parent who raised me all on her own, believed in. Curiosity got the best of me so I asked, "Hey momma what exactly do you believe in". She laughed, "What do you mean". "Well do you believe in God and the Devil, or are you more inclined to follow and praise the Old Gods, like Odin and Hel", I said jokingly. She laughed again and sat down across from me. She sighed "I don't really know". "I believe that there are good forces and then there are the bad ones". I asked sarcastically "Have you ever encountered one of these so called bad forces". And without skipping a beat and the straightest face possible, she said yes. To this day she doesn't who or what it was. What she does know is that for two weeks my mother didn't get any sleep and for some reason it wanted me.
