Hi, my name is Luna, I know a crazy name right? Well, my mom named me luna because she said my dad always made her feel like she was floating in space right next to the moon. I always loved how she told me stories about dad. He passed away when I was 10 I'm 15 now, he's been gone for 5 years now. His name was Lucas he died at the age of 32. He died in a fire, he was a firefighter my mom always hated his job she always feared his life every day. She still blames herself for it. My mom's name is Margaret pretty basic. She's not the same way she used to be, now she solves her problems with alcohol. She tried to attend rehab many times but always gave up. She drinks alcohol every day. She yells a lot and she's always asleep. Sometimes I wish I could just have a normal life, just a different reality. At school today while I was at my locker. Jade and her minions walked up to me. Jade's a total drama queen. she hates me, she's hated my guts ever since second grade, I've never done anything to her. "Ha look girls more charity work," she said as she was walking towards me. "Not today jade," I said trying to get past her. She blocks me. "Jade please I'm not in the mood." She gives me an evil stare. "And do you think I care? Your such a baby, I don't think your daddy would approve." She said while laughing in my face. I ignore her and walk away. In math class, I sit at my seat not doing anything. I never do anything. Ms.Trish was teaching but I wasn't paying attention. I hate mathematics my dad used to always teach me the hard parts when my teacher wasn't making sense. "Luna." Ms.Trish yells. I look up. "Hmm?" she stares at me worriedly. "Do you mind solving the problem on the board?" I look at her and shake my head. She looks angry but troubled at the same time. I stare a while then put my head back down. "Okay anyone else?" Minutes later I hear the bell, as I stand up to gather my things Ms.Trish is giving out homework, as I'm walking out the door I hear "Ms. Miller." I turn around. "Can you stay back a minute?" she says looking at me like I have no choice. "Sure," I say walking back towards her desk. "Here, take a seat." I take one. "Luna, I've been worried, you haven't been paying attention in my class not only mine any of them I've talked to your other teachers, but you also have to get your grades up if you want to graduate, your dad wouldn't be happy." I look away. "Please luna." I look back at her. "Okay fine, can I go now?" I say rising from my seat. She nods and I leave. As I walk out I can feel her watching me. When I get to my locker I grab my things and leave school. I arrive home and mom is passed out on the couch I cover her up with a blanket make a bowl of cereal and go to my room. I sat on the bed and got on my phone. I opened Twitter and there was a hashtag trending #realityshifting it's when you can shift into your DR. desired reality there was a how-to video next to it. Before I could click it I heard a glass break from outside of the door. I rushed into the living room where my mom was sleeping. She was standing in the kitchen standing next to broken glass. "I was trying to pour some whiskey." She said smiling. She looked like a sociopath. "Don't you think you've had enough of that?" I said as I walked into the kitchen to clean the mess she made. "Hey!" she screamed. "I am your mother, you don't get to talk to me that way!" Her words were slurred. She's drunk. I can tell. "Well, maybe you should stop drinking all the time, and maybe you should start acting like you're my mother!" I stomped away to my room I cried myself to sleep, why can't we just be normal why can't she love me?
