Luna pov
We just stood for what seemed like an hour, but it really was only a few minutes. Mac soon cleared his throat and stepped up. Star let out a growl from my side, telling him that she doesn't trust him. He stopped but then he looked at me before speaking.
"So... now that you are a part of the Red Wolves, you will need to learn the rules."
"Ok, so what are they. Oh, and if your going to ask for me to turn Star back into a toy that is a no as I told you when you saw the note."
"As much as I would like for you to turn her into her toy form I do understand. Now, let's get you to your room."
We all headed up to the second story floor of the building. Mac walked across from the stairs to a door and opened it for me. Mac walked in first then I walked in second followed by the others. I sat my stuff down on the floor and turned to look at Mac. As soon as he realized I was staring at him he quickly cleared his throat and spoke.
"Uh, right. *clears throat* now the rules in this base are simple. One, you pull your weight around here like doing chores or helping patching up things around here. Two, on missions you have to obey orders from the mission leader, got it?"
"Loud and clear, Red Healer."
"Good now- wait? What did you just call me?"
"I called you Red Healer. And since you called yourselves the Red Wolves I just thought it would be appropriate for codenames on missions to have the word Red in it. Wouldn't you agree?" I could tell just by the look in his eyes that he was shocked by that thought.
Nick, Austin, and Lilly stared at me in shock as well. Star just sat by me. Mac shook his head then looked at me before speaking.
"I... I never really thought about it. *coughs* now, we'll let you unpack your stuff."
>*<>*<>*< Time skip >*<>*<>*<
I had just finished unpacking everything minus the food and medical supplies. 'They probably have some kind of medical supplies and a kitchen somewhere. Guess I need to start looking.' I started to head out of the room quietly as I could since Star fell asleep in the closet.
I grabbed the two bags full of food and the one bag full of medical supplies. I opened the door and quietly as I could I shut the door. I listened for a second before stepping quietly to the stairwell and heading down to the first floor. As soon as I reached the bottom of the stairs, I ran into Mac. He was staring at me and I stared back.
It was awkward. I soon cleared my throat before speaking.
"Uh, hey Mac do you know where I could put this food and medical supplies?"
"Food and medical- how did you get a hold of that stuff? You know what don't answer that, just- here follow me."
With that, he lead the way to the kitchen. I sat down the two bags of food on the table to let him look through. He opened one and started pulling out canned food and bread, along with some other food stuff. I opened the other bag and started pulling out food stuff as Mac started looking at the expiration date on certain things.
By the time he was done there was a hand full of canned food in the trash but every thing else was still good. Mac then started putting stuff away. I put the other bag on the table to let him look through it as well.
Mac opened that last bag and started going through it as well. As soon as he was done, he put the stuff back in the bag. He looked me in the eyes and I see his eyes soften a little as we locked eyes. Mac looked away before grabbing the bags' straps and slipping it over his shoulder. He started to head out of the room but stopped at the doorway and said.
"You may want to come with me. I need to check that wound of yours." I looked at him in confusion. His voice didn't have the gruffness it did before. He was speaking in a more mild tone of voice but also I was confused about what he said. 'Wound? What wound? When did I- oh wait, the creek. *sigh* I'm on his good side right now I think? I might want to keep it that way.' I heard him clear his throat.I snapped out of my thought and looked up at him.
He had an annoyed look in his eyes and his body was tensed. I shuttered a little but I managed to say.
"U-uh, r-right *clears throat* right lead the the way then." He nods his head in approval and then started walking again. I was a few steps behind. He entered though double doors and headed to a desk. He sat the bag down on the desktop and turned to face me. I just stood there watching him Mac soon gestured for me to take a seat on the bed and so I did.
Mac went to one of the many shelves in the room and grabbed a first aid kit. He walked back over to me and sat the first aid kit on the bed next to me. He started unwrapping the bandage I had forgotten about from around my head. He grabbed my head and started looking at the wound. Mac soon let go of my head and I looked up to see him nodding his head before speaking.
"Your wound is completely healed. That's good for sure but if you start feeling bad I would suggest you come find me, got it?" I nodded my head in understanding. Mac went back to the bag on the desk and started to put away the medical supplies. I decided to help him out so we were done in under a minute. I went back to the kitchen and grabbed the two bags in there and then headed back to Mac.
I held out the two bags to him and said.
"Here, these will come in handy for y'all later on." He looked at me speechless. He shook his head and cleared his throat. He grabbed the bags out of my hands and placed them on the table and said.
"Thank you Luna... uh *clears throat* if you need anything just come find me or Lilly."
"All right, thank you Mac." I turned to walk out of the room when I bumped into one of the shelves knocking over a few books. I quickly apologized and started picking them up. Mac came over and started to help when one caught my eye. I grabbed it and opened it. My eyes grew wide and my skin went pale. I looked up at Mac. He was still picking up books when I asked.
"Where did you get this from?" My voice was almost a whisper but still heard by Mac. He looked up and saw me. His eyes grew wide with concern and he came closer to me before asking.
"Luna, are you all right? Are you hu-"
"Where did you get this book, Mac? Answer me, please."
"It was here when we found this place. Why are you asking?" I stood up and then grabbed hold of his hand and pulled him to his feet. I started pulling him to my room with the book in hand. As soon as we were at my door. I opened the door and pulled Mac in and closed the door.
I let go of Mac and opened the book and handed it to him. I walked over to my bedside and grabbed a thick leather notebook, opened it and walked back over to him and showed it to him.
All it took was one look at the book for his eyes to grow wide. He gently grabbed the book out of my hands. He looked between the two before asking.
"How is this- these books - t-the handwriting is identical. Luna, how did you-"
"The leather book I showed you was given to me. The other I'm not sure."
"Do you know the author of the books?"
"Not just know them, their..."
"Their what?"
"Mac... the book's author I have known all my life until they where killed by the hunters... She was a hopper. She sacrificed her life to save mine..."
"She?"
"The author of the books name is Lila Burner... my mother." Mac's eyes grow wide in shock as he dropped the books.
Both with the Red Wolves symbol in them and the middle of that symbol... was a light cyan turtle shell.
