— Run , Joji

As the towering masked man continued patrolling through the silent spruces, Tommy quietly got up, clambering out of the bush, and pulling out Tubbo, urging him on, before seeing how heavy the bag was to him, and grabbing the bag off of Tubbos back, so he was carrying both. The two boys stumbled over the uneven ground littered with spruce needles, trying not to run into any of the spiky berry bushes or twist their ankle.
The second they sighted the stormy grey slate walls of l'manberg, they stopped running, and rested for a minute, both boys breathing heavily, and shaky on their legs. Tommy took of the bag from his back, and immediately felt relieved, and dropped his shoulders, relaxing them, and throwing his arms out to stretch them.
"Holy shit" Tommy gasped, surprised they had managed to get out without being caught. It was safe to say they probably wouldn't be visiting the woods anytime soon, not only was it almost time go back to college, but it was also far to risky.
"Hey Tommy, we should probably get going, it's almost sunset...-" Tommy looked up, and sure enough orange flooded the red sky, as the sun set in the distance, silhouetting the flag that their nation stood for, which flapped gently in an undetectable breeze. Tommy shivered as an odd feeling crept through him...something was....wrong? Maybe that wasn't the right word but something...he couldn't put his finger on it...

A boom echoed from the distance, followed by plumes of dirty grey smoke, that rose from l'Manberg, hanging heavy in the sky, as more and more billowed up, filling the previously clear sky. The sun, even the sun was blocked out from witnessing the destruction that caused so much pain, loss, to so many people.
PHIL
Tommy screamed, and he screamed and he screamed, until his throat was raw and aching, and he couldn't utter another word, till his voice was hoarse. The pain, the pain a single action could cause, one he had zero influence on, able to do nothing but watch in horror. He couldn't feel his body, he was detached from everything, from the world, just the sound of his own heart thundered in his ears, until a gentle whisper reminded him, the world is always worth living, until your forced out of it.
Tubbo, Tubbo was here, Tubbo was ok, he was ok, everything was ok! He opened his eyes, and watched as the world passed on anyway, as if the destruction that just occurred was nothing...
"Tubbo," Tommy reached out towards him, and pulled him closer, the two hugging as the sun set, darkness settling over the landscape like a blanket, as the two boys fell asleep on each other, keeping each other comforted, and warm.

Tommy woke to Tubbo shaking his shoulder gently, starting, confused on his surroundings until he remembered the events of the previous night...holy shit, my home-
Tommy's eyes widened, as he searched the landscape for the walls, they'd been visible, so where were they?
He noticed a small pile of rocks that hadn't been there before, and a lake...oh shit

L'manberg was rubble. The nation his brothers and friends had fought so hard for, no longer existed, the loss, the pain, was it all for nothing? At the end of the day, was there really nothing left to the world but pain and suffering?
Tommy grasped at these realisations in disbelief, how could one man, no, three men, cause so much pain on such a wide amount of people-
A sob broke free of his mouth. He was only 16, Tubbo was only 17, and...they had to get back, he had to make sure his family was ok, he had to say sorry to them for so many things, and to leave them unsaid...he couldn't.

"Tubbo we have to go," They leapt up, grabbing a bag each, and walking quickly to what once was. As they came within sight from the inside, the true extent of damage was revealed: the street had been blown apart, and the houses were in shambles.
"Phil? Techno? Will?" Tommy called out, a feeling of dread settling like a cold sweat on his skin, "a-anyone?"

Silence filled his ears, a peacefully disturbing silence.

Was there no one here?

Empty like my head, haha "thoughts cycle, gusty, a mind filled with hot air, must I care for no one else but myself..." Tommy hummed the tune, it was one of wills- his breath hitched as he thought about how he might never see them again, that he might never be able to aplogise to Will for breaking his guitar that one time, and blaming it on "the wind"...

A/n yeah this chapter was a lot to write lmao didn't expect this many words, so I split it into two chapters, but uh ok (the next few chapters after are likely to be shorter as they're building up to some stuff :])
