"Hey guys what are we doing this summer?" I asked, sitting on the floor near Judy's locker. Kaitlyn was the organized one and always new how to make a memorable summer. "I have a great idea!" Nallie said, she gave the greatest ideas to our group, but making them work was Judy's job. "What is it?" Kaitlyn asked, "We are going to be more annoying this summer then we ever have before!" She replied. This seems interesting, annoying people is one of our favourite things to do together we have pulled off a lot of stunts that can get people shaking with annoyance. "What is it?" Kaitlyn asked, "We are going to use all the bubble blowers we got and blow bubbles.. Thousands of bubbles on the beach!" Nallie started cackling with laughter, Kaitlyn, Judy, and I had a silent conversation. "Um.. Nallie have some twizzlers" Judy said, as if on cue. "Who still has bubble blowers?" I asked, I am in charge of getting the materials, and as far as I knew we are going to have to take a trip to Dollarama, to make this work. "I think my brothers have some in the garage." Kaitlyn said. Judy was to busy calming Nallie down to paying attention, "Kaitlyn, I don't think are group has a big enough budget for this. We spent a lot of it on 'the stink bombs in the blocks mailbox' prank we did last year." I said concerned, "Deep breaths Nallie, deep breaths." Kaitlyn and stared at Judy, Nallie had gone into hyper mode after eating the twizzlers bag. "Susan, it will be fine. The Halloween dance raised us a bunch of money." I knew that if Kaitlyn wanted something to happen, she will always follow through until it works, which is why she is the leader of our group. We spent the rest of lunch talking and gossiping.
Two Months Later
"Miss Sparks, to the office! Miss Sparks!" I jumped right out of my seat after hearing my name get called on the announcements. Summer was in two weeks, if I was getting called to the office I should only expect the worst. I slid out of my chair, walked out of the rusty classroom door of room 1283 I started to climb the 'always wet with something stairs' and trudged down the hall to the office. "Um.. Mr. Zinita, you called me?" I said, I tried to keep from shaking with fear of what might happen. Maybe I have to retake grade 12! Maybe I am not graduating I couldn't stop myself from scaring the crap out of me. "Hello Susan!" Mr.Zinita smiled, "Sit down, we need to talk about a serious matter." I couldn't feel myself move as I sat down on the stiff leather chair, right across from Mr.Zinita. "I see you have done really well this year. " He said casually, I nodded like an puppet I couldn't speak, or even move without something using my strings. "But there is one subject you have never seem to do well in, that is why I called you up here." "Which subject?" I heard myself ask, my brain was pudding, sloshing around in my skull. "Math" Mr.Zinita was a math major in school, he hated it when someone had trouble with math. Don't cry..Don't cry! You are not crying! "So am I not graduating? Am I re-doing high school?" I asked, I felt tears welling up in my eyes. "Of course not!" Mr.Zinita started to smile again, "It is only one subject, you are going to a camp in Washington, to spend the summer there, and if you pass. You pass high school." Mr.Zinita said cheerfully, without any control, I burst into tears. I am not going to see my friends or family all summer, I am going to a geek camp to re-do math, and if I fail (which I know I will) I have to re-do high school! After a few minutes of the secretary handing me tissues, I had stopped shaking, and wiped to rest of the tears from my eyes, "Have a lollipop sugar" The secretary said, then she handed me a bowl full of green and red lollipops, since the younger grades take the best flavours. I felt the puppeteer pull my strings making me walking slowly downstairs, and silently back to class, where my friends were trying to hack onto my laptop. Kaitlyn and Nallie were giggling madly pretending not to notice I was there, Judy could tell something was wrong. "Hey, What happened up there?" Judy asked concerned, That's when a thought hit me I am going to ruin my group's summer! I am the only one who had the time to get the bubble blowers I tried to act like everything was ok and smile, "Everything is fine." But I knew Judy wasn't convinced.
