Delilah stood motionless with wide eyes in the kitchen as twelve eyes looked at her.
Crown The Empire were sitting in her kitchen. In her house. Looking at her. And smiling at her. HER.
"Hi!" Brandon says first, waving at her. She doesn't really know what to do or say, so she just waves and says, 'Hi!' just as happily as the guitarist said it.
"Oh, my god, she's wearing our merch!" Andrew says, pointing towards her shirt.
"Duh, she's a fan, David said so, like, twenty million times before." Benn says, rolling his eyes. "Really?" She asks him.
"Really. When we were writing new songs, David would always say, 'Oh, Delilah would love this one' and stuff like that." He nods.
"David's a big ole' cheeseball." Delilah replies and David slings an arm around her neck and messes her hair up.
"David, quit it." She groans and slides out of his grip, trying to straighten her hair back.
"You two really look a lot alike." Hayden says, looking at the siblings. "Loads of people think so. She's just prettier." David replies.
Delilah snickers and rolls her eyes, feeling someone looking at her. She looks up, seeing Brent looking back at her, smiling to himself.
She quickly looks away and subconsciously pushes her glasses up the bridge of her nose as butterflies fill her stomach and a light blush covers her cheeks.
Her ears perk up to a loud deisel truck going down the road. She has a good feeling that she knew who it was, and where they were going.
"Anyways," David says. "I brought-" he starts and a knock on the door cuts him off.
She slightly smiled to herself, but not too much, because she knew what this meant, and she knew who was at the door.
"Hang on." Delilah says and goes to get the door.
When she pulls it open, one of Lilith's boyfriends, Levi, stands on the porch. She sighs on the inside, but doesn't let it show.
"Hey, Levi!" She happily says. "Hey, Delilah. Is Lily home?" He asks her, his deep voice rattling in his trachea as he speaks.
She shakes her head. "No, she left a few hours ago.." She says.
"Oh," Levi says, shuffling his feet. "do you know when she'll be back?"
Delilah bit her tongue, -but not literally, she didn't know whether to tell him the truth or not.
Levi was a truly sweet guy, he's head over heels for Lilith, and she plays the boy like a violin.
"I'm pretty sure she went to go see Mom, so there's no telling when she'll be back. I can text you when she comes back, though, if you want.." She offers.
He nods, his brown hair flopping into his eyes. "I'd appreciate it." He nods, taking off his baseball cap and runs a hand through his hair.
He must've been working in the field before he came, he reeked of fertilizer and sweat.
"I'll get going, it was good to see you, Delilah." He says. "You too, Levi." Delilah says and he walks back to his truck.
Levi drove a truck. He was a typical Texas boy. Farmer's tan, thick drawl -thicker than usual, drives a jacked up truck with mud splattered up the sides of the doors from ripping down dirt roads at night.
Delilah always cringed when she heard his truck down the block, the muffler was so bad that you could literally hear the truck down the block.
When she heard the truck it meant that Lilith would shove her other boyfriend out the back door and throw her arms around Levi like nothing happened.
Like no one was there. It made Delilah sick to her stomach.
She thought and thinks that if you love someone, you should never hurt them.
Levi is a good kid, he means well, always speaks whenever he saw her. Southern Hospitality.
Delilah closed the door and locked it back. She's a big believer in locking a door.
"Who was that?" David yells from the kitchen. "Just one of Lily's friends." She yells, her voice cracking. Delilah isn't a very good yeller.
Her voice always cracks and breaks when she yells, and David thinks that it's the funniest thing in the world.
Her drawl comes out more, along with her twang, and her voice breaks and cracks. It's funny as hell to him for some reason.
She walks back and finds them all sitting in the living room, taking up all of the room on the couch, but David sits on the floor, on a cushion at the end of the coffee table. "Looks like I have a shadow now." Delilah says, mostly to herself.
She got a chorus of laughs at that comment, and she grabs a pillow from the loveseat, which is rarely used, unless Lilith and one of her boys sit on it.
Delilah puts the pillow on the ground and sits cross legged at the other end of the table, facing her brother.
"God, you sit like such a dweeb." David laughs, referring to Delilah's posture. She was sitting with her back and shoulders straight, her hands just above her ankles. "What do you mean?" She asks, slightly tilting her head. "You sit like this." Hayden says, getting her attention.
She looks at him and he straightens his back and shoulders, over dramatically puffing his chest out.
"Oh, my god, I do not puff my chest out like that." She laughs. "No, you don't, it's for emphasis, young grasshopper." He says.
Delilah rolls her eyes and chuckles. Everyone in the band's behavior is exactly how she pictured it. Just the way they act in the interviews.
Every member had their own personality, and that's what made them Crown The Empire.
David is shy, quiet, and nerdy. Hayden is dorky, sweet and cuddly. Brandon is shy, sweet, and he loved to make people laugh. Andrew is sweet, cuddly and full of energy. Brent is sweet, quiet, talks with his hands a bit, and he loves to make people smile. Benn is flirty, sweet and romantic.
That's what makes Crown The Empire.
The seven of them talk for ages and ages, Delilah breaking out of her shell a smidge more the more they talked to her.
She notices that Brent always keeps eye contact when she talked, and he always smiled at her. She often caught him looking at her, but he'd only smile and look away. She'd do the same thing.
"What time is it?" Delilah asks. "Ten." Andrew answers, looking at the screen of his phone.
"Lilith still isn't home." She says, worry making her stomach twist into knots. Delilah is the type of person that worries more than she should.
"Where do you think she went?" Brandon asks. "Honestly, I have a feeling she went to Jillian's." She says.
"That club?" Brent asks. "Mm-hmm, she goes almost every Friday night." Delilah nods.
"I thought the AA meetings were helping her." David says. "Oh, she stopped going to those months ago." She says, moving her hands for gestures.
The house phone rings in the kitchen and She gets up to go get it.
"Hello?" She answers.
"Delily." A drunken voice slurrs on the other end of the line. Delilah sighs and removes her glasses to pinch the bridge of her nose.
"What's wrong." She sighs. In the end, Lilith puked all over the bouncers and DJ's, and now Delilah has to go get her before she's thrown out. Again. She walks into the living room and goes to the door. "Who was that?" David asks. "Lily, she's drunk as hell and she threw up all over the bouncers, so now I have to go get her before the cops show up and put her in the drunk tank."
"Damn, she goes hard doesn't she?" Hayden asks. "Yes, she does." Delilah nods and goes to the door.
She slips into her coat and grabs her keys. "I'll be back in about an hour." She says.
"Do you want one of us to go with you?" Brandon asks rather loudly.
"Lily tends to sling her arms when she's drunk, so it'd be best if y'all just stayed. Don't want one of y'all to end up with a black eye." She says.
"Be careful!" David calls. "I will." Delilah says and goes out to get into Lilth's car. She'd rather not clean vomit out of the floorboard in Lucy.
It takes about ten minutes to get to Jillian's, and she has to park a block away. Friday drunks.
Delilah pulls her hood up and goes to the front doors. People are lined up around the block, mostly girls looking for a hook up for the night.
She's somehow able to hear someone loudly yelling in a drunken rage over the music, and she finds Lilith being held up by a bouncer.
Vomit covers the front or her top and her dirty blonde hair is a knotted and tangled mess on her shoulders.
She clutches a bottle of tequila to her stomach as she attempts to wiggle out of the gaurd's grip.
"Are you her sister?" The gaurd asks. "Delily!" Lilith squeals and hugs her tightly, spilling Tequilla down the front of her shirt.
"Yessir." Delilah says. "Lily." She adds, to sound excited, when she's literally dreading taking her home. Her sister pulls away.
"Take me hooome!" Lilith throws her arms in the air, shooting the clear liquid into the air, and it finds a home in Lilith's wet hair.
"C'mon, let's get you home." She says, throwing one of her arms around her neck.
Delilah wraps an arm around her sister's waist and she holds Lilith's hand on her shoulder with her left hand.
"I'm taking Patty with me." Lilith yells in a drunken stupor as her younger sister drags her along, bearing more weight than she's used to.
"Okay, just take it easy." Delilah gently says and they reach the car in a few long strides.
She opens the door and gets Lilith situated in the backseat, because she figures that if she were in the front, she may swing her arms about.
Delilah gets in the car and starts to drive home, the sounds of her sister drunkenly sobbing and mumbling making her nauseated.
Once they get home, Delilah unloads her sister from the car and drags her inside. She opens the door which was unlocked and they stumble in. "Delilah? You back?" David yells. "Yeah!" She grunts and turns around to lock the door back.
"Just lean against the wall for a sec." She says, leaning Lilith up against the wall. Delilah locks the four locks and something hits the floor beside her. Looking down, she sees Lilith sprawled out on the floor, the bottle of Tequilla right side up, thank God.
"Oh, god." Delilah mumbles and gets her sister up from the floor. "Is everything alright?" David calls.
"Yeah!" She yells and starts to carry her sister up the stairs.
Dumping Lilith onto her bed, she rids her of her shoes and sits her up to tie her hair back.
She places a wastebin beside her bed for her to vomit in when she needs to.
Delilah turns Lilith onto her side and covers her with a blanket. She retreats to her room for a moment to grab a bottle of Advil and a baby monitor.
She goes back to Lilith's room and places two of the pills onto her nightstand and goes downstairs to get a glass of water for her.
"Everything go okay?" David asks when she walks into the kitchen, running a hand through her hair.
"I guess." She shrugs. "How bad is she?" He asks her. "She's drunk as hell, and she passed out." She says, filling up a glass with water.
"I'm not trying to be mean, but, you smell like liquor." He chuckles. Delilah turns around. "Tequilla, actually. She spilled it all over me."
"Oh..." He says, dropping the subject. "I'm gonna go take this up, and shower real quick. Are you gonna stay the night?" She asks.
"Nah, Brandon wants to play X-box all night at his place." David says. "Okay." She nods.
"I'll see you tomorrow, then." Delilah says. "Hey, the guys and I were thinking about going to get lunch at Montey's, wanna come with us?" David offers.
"I'd love to, but it depends on how Lily is." She smiles. "Okay. Just let me know." He says and hugs her.
Once David leaves, Delilah drops the water off in Lilith's room and turns on the baby monitor.
It's stupid, yes, but she can keep an eye on her while she sleeps. Delilah quickly showers, washing the smell of tequilla down the drain.
When she crawls into bed with the baby monitor, she rolls onto her side.
She fell asleep to the sounds of her sister snoring through the monitor speaker.
