Chapter 1 Blank Page

El Dorado Hills, California

I was sitting in my history class, learning about the segregation of the U.S.A and how it was really important to our history and how much it has changed for the better for our country. I sorta spaced off after that thinking of my cousin Heather who's been missing since October. I hope she’s okay, we should of already found her but they have no leads on her disappearance. Its like a cookie trail without the cookie crumbs. Its like our family story, all we know is we are from Planet Oscar and thats all.

“Alice, are you paying attention?” said the teacher I looked up from my notes. Her name is Mrs. Keth shes a great teacher with a positive attitude turns her students she has brown eyes and red hair, she wears glasses and she a very tell person, shes about 5’11.

“Yes ma'am I am.” I said “You just said that segregation will end in the year 1954 ten years after World War II.” Take that teacher! I know my history.

“Okay you were paying attention. Just seemed like you werent.” The teacher said. “Alright class, the test of this will be when you come back from Spring Break on March 7th. Your essay about your president is due tomorrow so please don’t say you just started it. Your last assignment is due today so turn it in on my desk before you leave today.” As the bell rang, I got up to pack my things up. I tried to get out of every class before.

“Alice and Wes, I want to see you two please.” the teacher asks us to stay and 'talk’. Ever since the incident in October happen every teacher has to talk to me to see if I’m doing okay, if i was i would know what all happened when i got the party with Heather.

I walked up to the desk, with Wes was right beside me. Wes was the second youngest out of the four of us. He has black hair and blue eyes standing at the height of 5’6. He’s one of the cousins who will always have your back with situations like this one. I looked over at Wes who was already looking at me. He whispers  so only I could hear him.  “Alice be nice.” I gave him a smirk.

“So I know you guys are going through some hard stuff at home, and Alice seems to be spacing out at a lot lately.” she says as she was looking at me. “I was wondering if they  have any leads on Heather or if who ever kidnapped Heather did that to you.” she said pointing at my hand that is deformed for the incident. I held is my other hand.

“I hadn’t thought about that in a day, thanks for bring it up Mrs. Keth” I said with anger, Wes looked at me and shook his head then looked down at his feet. “What happened to me happened, theres no reason for all of the teachers to bring it up every single day, in every single class..” I looked at Mrs. Keth, “And for the paying attention, I just proved that point” Mrs. Keth looked at me and frowned. She knows I’m not a mean spirited person and maybe after this she’ll give up on asking us the questions about Heather and I.

“I just want you two too know that I'm here if you need someone to talk to. I use to teach Middle school and Heather was in my history class last year. She was a very smart 13 year old. It must run in the family” her frown turned into one of those scary smiles, like she didn't want to smile but she had to, to make the situation way better than it was ten seconds ago.

“Can we go home now? Jason is probably wondering where we are right now.” Wes said because he knows if we stayed even longer I'll blow up and probably get detention and I can't get another one of those this week. Mrs. Keth nodded her head and I went to my desk to finished getting my stuff ready to go home. Wes was already done and he was waiting by the door. I got done and met him there. We got into the hallway and I loose my cool.
