Emily Pov:
I wake up in a pool of sweat and try to get up but find myself stuck. I start to panic when I feel its a body on top of me having flashbacks of the old pack. As if sensing my unease Maddy immediately wakes up and rolls off me and mumbles sorry. I just whimper lowly not trusting Maddy at all. I don't know how I recognized Maddy as my mate due to the fact I don't have my wolf, just something within ushered me to say those words.
I wake up not feeling my mate next to me in bed but hearing the shower running I wait for her to finish. She comes out with her hair soaking wet with a pair of sweatpants and shirt on. She looks at me and asks for me to take a shower. I nod hesitantly and make my way to the enormous bathroom.
I turn the water all the way to hot always loving the soothing feeling it gave me. I wash away all the dirt and grime using freshly scented vanilla soap. After my shower I walk towards the bed seeing it freshly made with a pair of small sweatpants and a t-shirt on top. A note next to the pair of clothes: Had to go and do some stuff, ill find you later. Unwrapping my towel I quickly get changed heading to find my mate.
I walk aimlessly down the halls until I hear soft moans coming from a particular room. Curiously I slightly open the door to catch a whiff of a pine and vanilla scent and peeking through I see my mate and this brown haired girl stuffing their tongues down each others throat. I quickly close the door speed walking away and find a door that leads to the backyard of the pack house.
I walk outside to breath in the fresh air calming my once raging mind of worry. I sigh knowing that I'm only seen as property and have no right to over Maddy. Soon Maddy finds me and growls lowly while looking at me in disgust. She told me that tomorrow the moon will turn red and during that time mated pairs will try to impregnate the female, the red moon is supposed to boost the testosterone in everyone and that makes unmated females a target to unmated males. I nod slowly thinking of how I'm most likely going to have to mate with Maddy and carry her children.
After the conversation the day goes on and soon its time for bed. I'm woken from my slumber the next morning to knocking, glancing over to my sleeping mate I quietly get up and open the door. I see it as none other than Ethan i squeal silently enveloping him into a hug and kissing him on the cheek. He whispers and tells me that the Former Alpha and Luna of the Starlight Pack would like their eldest daughter to visit for a couple of days to see if she can find her mate. I nod and walk over to relay the message over to Maddy and when I nudge her all that comes out is a low growl. I try nudging her again and she snaps at me, I whimper and slowly back up. She asks me harshly what I want.
I tell her the message and am secretly ecstatic as she agrees knowing I'll get to see my childhood best friend Sam. We used to hang out and were best friends before my mothers death. My mom and her mom were best friends as well and when mom passed and their pack disbanded we never saw each other again. My dad kept me locked away for a year telling everyone i was just depressed and only the pack knew of the abuse i dealt with. Sam and I used to declare our love for each other and our mothers would joke about us being mates. I can't help but feel a twinge of hope for Sam.
I've been getting more of my wolf characteristics as my wolf is manifesting. I can hear soft growls in my mind when my mate does something they don't agree with which is most of the time. I have a million things on inside my head. How's the red moon going to affect me and Maddy and if Sam will recognize me.
