Too many choices

"Hurry up, we're going to be late!" sayori yelled as she ran towards the school. I shook my head silently, knowing that the only reason that we are late is because she didn't wake up, I had to flick her on her forehead to wake, then in a rapid flash of hurrying chaos, she threw on her uniform, ate a small breakfast and we hurried out the door. We walked onto the school grounds as soon as the first bell rang. Sayori immediately ran off waving a small fast goodbye to me. I waved back and walked inside and smacked into natsuki. "Hey, watch i-"natsuki starts to bellow but stops herself. "Oh, hi Aiko." Natsuki says and smiles. I've never really liked my name. "Please, call me zero." I say with a firm tone of voice. Natsuki gives me a strange look but I shrug it off. I know that natsuki has a crush on me. But I tried to break her gaze but I can almost see the hearts forming in her eyes. "I have to go to class now." I say to natsuki. She shrugs and walks away, I start walking to my class. I see Yuri and my heart nearly jumps. I've liked Yuri from the day we met, her purple hair, her shy personality, her books. She was beautiful, and very mature. She looked my way and blushed and looked away. We walk into the classroom and sit down at our desks. In this class, we had desk mates and we sat side by side. Yuri was my desk mate and she still had a cherry blossom blush on her cheeks. We sat down and I got my books out and she has an unhappy look on her face. "What's wrong?" I ask. She looks at me flustered. "I left my books at home, great." She says in a sad tone of voice. "We can share mine." I say in a calm voice. She looks at me with a brighter blush in her face. She nods and looks me in the eyes. I feel my soul touch hers and I spread my book across her desk. "Please open your text book to page 69." The teacher says. I open the book and let my left hand hang along my side.

Then I feel a slight warmth and see that Yuri wrapped her finger around mine. I smile and wrap my hand inside of hers. Her face lights up in surprise then looks at me and smiles.

We look at the text book and we hold hands until the bell rings. I stand up and grab my book bag and put the book inside. I breathe deeply and walk out the classroom and wave Yuri a small goodbye. She waves back and walks away. I walk to the rooftop and lean against the railing. Then I see Monika stand next to me. "Hey Monika." I say. "Hey zero." Monika say. I continue staring at the forest of blossom trees. "Are you coming to the club later?" Monika asks. I nod and keep staring over the yard. I hear footsteps receding. I ran a hand through my hair and sigh. "I have all these girls that like me, but I can't be with all of them." I think. I walk towards the ac vent and hide behind it. I reach into my pocket and pull out a pack of cigarettes. I put in my mouth and light the end. I inhale and let it out. That's better, I feel calmer and I relax. I keep smoking until the butts left. I put the cigarette out and pop a breath mint. I walk toward the door and walk toward the clubs. I walk to the literature club and walk inside. The girls are chatting. It's so strange as I'm the only male member. I don't mind. Then natsuki sticks her nose in the air. "What's that smell?" natsuki asks. "Shit, I forgot to put my scent spray on." I think. The others girls perk their noses up and walk to me. Monika looks at me with a sad look. Sayori reaches in my pocket and grabs my cigarettes and the girls look at me with an awkward look. I look at the girls and tell them the truth. "Yes, I smoke. Yes, I'm old enough, yes, the school knows and allows it." I say. The girls look at me with a confused look. "Zero, you can smoke in the club room, we don't mind, do we?" Monika says then looks at the girls. "N-no, we don't mind." The girls all say.

Sayori hand me back the pack and I take one out, the girls look at me. I light the end and inhale. I blow the smoke away from the girls. Sayori looks at me interestly, Monika smiles gently, natsuki tries to look angry but she eventually breaks, Yuri looks at me with affection. We go on with the club activities and I spray my anti smoke spray and join the group. We write poems and read. The club ends and we go home. I walk into my house and look around.

My mom and dad left a while back, they send me money and other things so I got the house to myself. I take of my blazer and tie. I plop down on the couch and grab my controller and headset. I turn on my game and jump in. hours pass and I hear a knock on my door. I pull the headset off and walk to the door and open it. Yuri stands in my doorway. "Hey, I was kinda bored so I came over, is it a bad time?" Yuri asks. I nod and walk inside. She follows me and we sit on the couch. I notice a small long lump in her jeggings. "What's that?" I ask and point at the small lump. Yuri's face flashes red and she pulls out a small beautiful knife with a black carved handle and a bright red blade. "May i?" I ask and she hands me the knife. I spin the knife through my fingers and throw it up and catch it. Beautiful and good weight. A perfect knife. I throw it up again but this time I catch it by the blade and it slips in my hand cutting it open. I grab the knife handle with my other hand and put it on the coffee table and Yuri looks at me with scared eyes. She takes my hand and looks at it. She runs off and comes back with a first aid kit. She cleans it up and wraps it. She get some blood on her finger and licks it off. She realizes what she did and starts coming her hair with her fingers. "S-sorry, I'll leave" Yuri says. I stop her and say its ok. "Are you hungry?" I ask. She nods and I stand up. I pull out some pans and some meat and vegetables.
