Kai stared down at Cyrus, his harsh glare through the braids that covered his face did little to throw off Cyrus' own gaze up at him from where he was chained.
It was just those two in the dark room, Cyrus had no idea where they had dragged him. Upon his unfortunate meeting with Ares, the hilt of the Beryl man's sword hit his temple and he was effectively knocked out.
"Kai," Cyrus spoke out, eyes wide and licking his lips as this seemed to be the second ghost he had come across. "This is unbelievable." He whispered.
Kai rolled his blue eyes, uncrossing his arms and tucking a deep black braid behind his ear to peer down at Cyrus. "What? That I would join to help my own people?" His voice dripped with sarcasm.
Cyrus shook his head, the chains jangling as he raised his hands to pinch the bridge of his nose and rub his eyes. "No, just surprised that you're still alive. I thought both you and Charis had died."
"Is that why you're here?" Kai dropped into a squat, his tone assertive and hard. The little boy that Cyrus had known was nowhere present in the man he saw in front of him now, no longer meek or scared. Now he carried an authoritative presence. He wondered what the Beryl's had done to him.
He dropped his hands to lay on top of his knees, but before he could voice his reasoning for being here it walked in with Ares hot on her heels.
Charis stared down hard at him before her gaze shifted to a softer look as she looked at Kai.
Cyrus had forgotten all that had happened, he felt a strange tug at his heart as he glanced back and forth at the two sharing a conversation with their eyes.
"Did he say anything about why he's here?" Ares questioned, and Cyrus ripped his gaze from the two to stare back at the man he had heard so much about. Jacinyths greatest foe was standing in front of him, and his hand itched to grab anything near him and kill him.
"I was getting there," Kai replied, Cyrus' eyes betrayed him and he looked over at Charis for a mere second.
She refused to meet his gaze and Ares picked up immediately, resulting in him quaffing before laughing softly. "Seriously?" He questioned, his hand pointing over to Charis. "Over a girl, could this get any more pathetic?"
Kai quickly grabbed onto Charis' forearm, turning her to face him. "How did you not notice him following you?"
"I'm sorry," She twisted her arm out of his grasp as she began bickering with him. "I had a really rough week, I just wanted to get home can you blame me?"
"So you led him to our home?"
The two kept arguing back and forth, and Cyrus seemed to be distracted by them but they fell into background noise as Ares crouched right in front of him- personal space seemed to be a foreign concept to him as Cyrus glared into his own eyes and willed himself to not back away.
"Did you come alone?"
Cyrus stayed quiet, he had his loyalty to the King.
"I'm not averse to torturing the information out of you, I'm actually looking forward to it." Cyrus' eyes glanced down at the sword tucked in between Ares' hands. "There's quite a lot I know about you, some of it from that blabber mouth back there..." His attention went to Charis who was still arguing with Kai while jabbing a finger in his chest. "But a lot from my own observations." Charis winced slightly as the action of lifting her arm up strained her shoulder from where Cyrus had pinned her down.
Cyrus still remained quiet, the lack of action prompting a smile to spread across Ares' face.
He stood up, the smile on his face remained though it did little to make him seem like a kind man. "Charis, come here."
