I woke up to the sound of soft sniffles and crying. Of course I had to be a light sleeper. I put on my glasses and got out of the fort to explore. I saw Blaise sleeping peacefully next to me. How can someone look nice when they are sleeping?' I thought, 'I bet I look like an oaf when I sleep'. Instead of seeing Draco next to him, there was just a lump showing that he had gotten up. Is he the one crying? Surely not, Malfoys don't cry. I walked to the balcony and there he was, bloodshot eyes; puffy cheeks and a bright red nose, staring into the winter night, crying. I tried approaching him silently, but he spoke up silently before I came closer to him, scaring me a bit.
"What do you want Harry, can't you see I'm busy."
"Well, I can definitely, I have eyes don't I ?" I joked trying my best to cheer him up from whatever he was crying about. "I just heard you and wanted to see if you were okay."
"It's just..."
"Just what?"
"You wouldn't understand. I'm okay now, let's go back inside," he said, trying to get away.
I stopped him by pulling his wrist and putting him in the place he first was. "Try me, I'm a very understanding person. Look at me, who wouldn't want to talk to this," I waved my hand in front of my face. "Plus, you're clearly not okay so why don't you just tell me what's wrong? I won't judge you."
"Fine." He agreed while sitting down, I followed his actions while waiting for him to continue. "I had a nightmare, not just the regular "giant spider eating you" type of dream. It was about my father. He took me to the park we always used to go to when I was younger, except we haven't been there in a long time because I got too old for it. I went on my favourite swing and it was like how things used to be; going to eat ice cream every day and playing quidditch all the time. Everything was fine until I looked at him in the eyes, everything around us changed and we were back in the manor. He forced me into a prison cell and left me there, all alone and in the dark. He told me that I would never get to see you or Blaise ever again. I don't want to lose you guys," he started to cry again after saying everything to me.
I hugged him tightly while trying to tell him that he would never lose us and that it was just a dream. I never noticed until now how his hair smelt like fresh apples and wood fire. "Your hair smells nice," I said, breaking the silence. He chuckled at my out of the blue statement and got up, offering his hand to me.
"Thanks, you really helped me here, I don't know what I could have done without you," he said while helping me up. "You're a really good friend Harry." I felt my face getting warm from the compliment, I wasn't used to getting any. I nodded, signalling that it was okay and we headed back to sleep in the warm spot we were a few minutes ago.
"G'night Harry."
"Goodnight Draco," I said while removing my glasses once again. Draco and I were going to be great friends, I felt it, no, I knew it. And although Blaise and I were best friends, I knew that he and I don't have the bond that Draco and I share.
The next day
We all woke up at around 9 am to eat some breakfast. Father said he would be away for his work and would be back by the time we were asleep, giving us the perfect opportunity to check out the waterfall as it was Blaises' last day here. After we were stuffed and Father had gone, we played some Wizarding chess and relaxed a bit before heading off at exactly 4 pm, giving us enough time to get there, explore and watch the sunset.
The ride there was just as beautiful and calming as before. This time, I got a good look at the forest below us because some of the snow had melted off their crowns. I was freezing and the season's harsh wind wasn't helping because it made my fingers feel like they were frozen to the wooden broom.
